Andy is 47 and was born on this day in Ruislip, Middlesex, England. We all know him as Gollum/Smeagol in the LOTR films, and he will return in that role for the upcoming The Hobbit films. Andy has recently been named the second unit director The Hobbit!

If you are a fan of the 1977 animated Hobbit, you have children, and you happen to live near Ridgefield, CT USA, then you are in luck!

The Ridgefield Library is hosting a special 1977 Hobbit movie viewing on their 16mm film projector.  The showing will take place in the Children’s Program Room on Thursday, April 21, from 7-8:30 p.m.  This film is open to students in grades 6-12.  Snacks and Lembas will be provided.  Registration is not required.

MSN published a ‘Where are they now?‘ feature today outlining the main roles from The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. As the name implies, the article highlights a few of the actors and, wait for it, what they are doing now! Ringer Malintatherian, who sent us the link, observed that MSN accidentally used a picture of Merry when writing of Billy Boyd. Hobbit are hard to distinguish sometimes! Turbine has just released two new batches of assets for The Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) and Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited (DDO). LOTRO – Spring Festival – Screenshots – In celebration of LOTRO’s 4th anniversary, a Spring Festival begins, featuring a new hedge maze, a “Stomp-a-Shrew” event in the Festival Gardens, and the new Ale Association, founded by the Dwarves of Thorin’s Hall to rival the Hobbits’ Inn League! DDO Update 9 – Screenshots

New screens depict the new Harbinger of Madness adventure pack being added with Update 9, showing players on the hunt for the missing Saltire townsfolk, as they traverse the uncharted sewers near the Stormreach harbor. Update 9 will also introduce updates to Crafting, new attack animations, boosted spells and more prestige Enhancement lines, among other updates.
