As many of you know, TheOneRing.net has been contributing bi-weekly Tolkien updates for ‘To Be Continued… with Sohaib and Stuart,’ a pop culture show on WNJC 1360 AM, Philadephia. For a variety of reasons, not the least of which was the content of the show before ‘To Be Continued…,’ TheOneRing.net will now be providing that same segment on a new show called ‘Fictional Frontiers with Sohaib,’ featuring host the very same Sohaib Awan. This show will air in a more family friendly time slot, 11AM-NOON ET on the same station, WNJC 1360 AM, Philadephia. The first show will be this week and we hope you can join us for some interesting talk about Tolkien, The Hobbit, maybe some prizes and more! As always, the show will be streamed live for those of you who live outside Philadelphia. [Fictional Frontiers] [Netcast]

In one of its gutsiest moves yet toward expansion and diversification, it was leaked today that Time-Warner is in the final stages of talks to acquire TheOneRing.net.
“It makes perfect sense when you think about it,” said one high-level, but confidential, source at Time-Warner. “With such companies as AOL, New Line Cinema, DC Comics and Cartoon Network, TheOneRing.net fits right into the fold.”
Word on the street has it that Time-Warner executives still chafe at not being able to secure tickets or V.I.P. access to TheOneRing.net’s industry famous Oscar parties. They decided to make the move now in order to have as much lead time as possible before the planning starts for similar festivities for the upcoming Hobbit movies. Rumor also has it that once negotiations have been finalized, the deal could make history on Wall Street as the biggest amount ever paid for a website. Site founders Xoanon, Calisuri, Tehanu and Corvar could not be reached for comment as cell phone reception is ‘iffy’ in certain parts of the Tahitian Islands. Stay tuned here for more!

When we redesigned TORn a few months ago, we did so with the intention of being able to swap out designs with ease. To that end, we were hoping to have Ringer submitted designs that we could occasionally feature. If you are handy with Photoshop/Illustrator and have some free time, we’d love to see what you come up with! The following link will download a .zip file that contains our official logo and a Photoshop file of the site template. The Photoshop file has a layer included that should make the designing process a bit easy. If you don’t know how to handle the Photoshop file, chances are you won’t be able to submit a design! But for those of you who do, give your best shot and send it to me at calisuri@theonering.net. Please include your nickname, the source of the assets (original imagery) you used and if you would like to have your email/website displayed. The TORn staff will choose the best entries and randomly post them on the site. Have fun! [Download the Assets]
