One of the best things about our friends at Weta Workshop is that they listen to fans to get an idea of the pieces we would like to see. At the Weta Collector’s forum, Flame of Udun, a list of the previous top vote earners has been assembled into a poll to see what might be the most desired pieces. The poll will be open for two weeks so we can get as many votes as possible to send some good data to Weta on what we’d like to see. I know it’s going to be very tough but please vote for a maximum of two (2) only and remember to only vote for items you would definitely purchase. So if you’ve wanted to be able to help give Weta a hint at something you’d buy this is a perfect chance.

We’re just out of Comic-Con and Weta keeps on delivering new and amazing pieces for us fans to add to our collections. One of the things we’d not seen so far from The Hobbit Trilogy line is one of the many soldiers who aide Sauron, Azog, and Bolg. This has been taken care of with the latest release announcement of the Dol Guldur Orc Soldier. This Orc is brutal, with the blood on his armour, as well as the severed Dwarf heads on the pikes on his back. Fans will want to act quickly to grab this Orc as he’s limited to only 500 pieces with a price tag of $449.
The other new pre-order continues the Dol Guldur 1:30 Scale Collection. Fans can now add the North Courtyard allowing them to continue to build this scene and giving them more scope to recreate this scene in whatever way they want. In-line with the South Courtyard this piece will be limited to 500 pieces and comes in at $149.
As you will recall, Weta has been doing questions in intervals and the winner will receive an autographed set of the 1:30 Dol Guldur set. The fifth and final question has just been released – which means the clock is ticking. Get your entries in before August 31 to go in the draw! Enter the Dol Guldur 1:30 Set Contest.

Almost four years ago I showed off my collection as it looked upon putting it in its own room. A lot has happened since then and I thought it was time to show how things look right now. As you will see I’ve added a lot of pieces, cabinet, and bookshelf since the last time I showed off my collection. This is for me, as I said, my way of showing off how much I love Middle-earth. My collection encompasses pieces from Weta Workshop, Sideshow Collectibles, Badali Jewelry, Noble Collection, United Cutlery, and even custom pieces. So I hope you enjoy taking a tour of my collection.

Comic-Con 2017 may be over but our coverage still has a little left for you all. Our friends at Weta Workshop had some really awesome pieces this year and were full of surprises. They hit us with pieces like Thranduil on Elk as well as the Gollum 1:3 mixed media statue. Both these pieces are fantastic and pieces nobody saw coming, which made covering the booth even more exciting. We had two pieces that fans had long been waiting to see, where fans could order them and get them added to their collections. Of course one of those was Grond who we had been patiently waiting to be able to order, and then we also got the Mouth of Sauron on Steed. Both pieces are limited with Grond at 500 pieces and the Mouth of Sauron at 750 pieces. Fans can expect these won’t last long so make sure to get your pre-orders in now.

TORn will be doing a panel at San Diego Comic Con on Friday, July 21 at 5pm at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina Hotel in the Grand Ballrooms 1 & 2. The Grand Ballroom is located to the right of the main Lobby as you enter from outside, we are in sections 1 & 2.
Our panel is titled “Still Tolkien about it: 80 years of Middle-earth” and will include discussion about how Professor Tolkien is still influencing pop culture, especially in Art, Literature, music, cosplay, gaming and collectibles. And as always, there will be singing.
The panel will end just before 6pm, and then everyone who wants to gather together can do so at the Marina Kitchen restaurant, also on the Lobby level but down left, at the far end of the Southern building, closest to the Convention Center.
The Hotel has not replied to us about trying to pre-book space, so like I said, we are just going to flash mob it, Middle-earth style.
For anyone showing up in Tolkien cosplay, we will grab a group photo in the Hotel lobby area by the restaurant, before heading inside, or maybe just as we hang out waiting to get into the restaurant.

Like with the Ice Cream social a few years back, this will be an informal gathering, stealth Ranger style. We are going to descend upon the restaurant and see if they will just seat everyone near each other, hopefully. There is a bar/lounge area just before entering the restaurant, so that may be where the bulk of everyone ends up. But those who want food, I highly recommend this place, even if it’s just to share some appetizers.
Our panel ends before the main hall closes next door at the Convention Center, so there should be fewer people to compete with than after 7pm. Anyhow, looking to arrive at the Marina Kitchen restaurant between 6:15pm and 6:30pm or so and staying until 8pm or beyond, allowing people to then hit up any of the other parties, screenings, and late night activities you want.
You can find more details on the Facebook event page
Please only RSVP attending if you will be at either the panel (which requires an SDCC badge) or at the Moot at the Marina Kitchen restaurant within the Marriott Marquis (no badge required for this one).
