We’re just a day away! Tomorrow The Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition will be in theaters nationwide. If you have not already picked up tickets, make sure you do so ASAP. [Buy Tickets] My local theater sold out as of last Thursday, but hopefully there are still some seats at your theater.

Make sure you arrive at least 30 minutes ahead of time as rumor has it there will be some great LOTR themed content, a special message from Peter Jackson from The Hobbit set, and you might just see something completely unexpected!

After you get home tomorrow night, if you want to share your thoughts and pictures, please do not hesitate to email us at spymaster@theonering.net. We’ll pick as many as we can to post, but make sure to include your theater name and location.

We can also alert you of a BIG event taking place in Los Angeles on June 27th. If you live in LA, you may want to consider taking the day off, as this event will have loads of activities, concluding in the largest giveaway a LOTR fan could ask for! Intrigued? Details are coming soon!

And, last but not least, don’t forget to snag Extended Editions on Blu-ray June 28th! If you purchase it directly through WBShop.com you’ll get a bonus set of 5×7 posters with your purchase. [WBshop.com] [Buy Tickets]

This week we have something a little different from previous articles you’ve seen with this column.  Art Prints are a collectible I love adding to my collection especially when the subject is The Lord of the Rings.  So, I wanted to take the time and get something set up with one of the leading artist out there working in Middle-earth.

The artist that I wanted to bring to your attention is the one and only Jerry Vanderstelt. You may recognize Jerry’s work from his The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Prints, ‘Clash of The Kings,’ ‘Fell Beast Print,’ or his most recent ‘Sauron’ Print. Not to mention Jerry has done many Star Wars pieces for ACME Archives.  These art prints from Jerry are some of the best pieces in my collection, and only add to the amazing items we’ve seen from Weta and Sideshow Collectibles. Needless to say after seeing the print pictures in this article and reading the Q&A below, you need to go to Jerry Vanderstelt’s site and get your prints now!

Finally, I want to thank those that helped with some of the questions. Sending them in really aided me in getting this article finished. Click the ‘Continue’ button to read the interview.

On this episode of Hobbit in 5, we talk about Matamata’s “makeover” for cast and crew of The Hobbit, Weta’s Rivendell Environment is now available for pre-order, a fan builds his own Hobbit hole, Howard Shore receives award, Peter Jackson announces casting of Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, and Conan Stevens, and we continue with another character study!

We have a facebook page now!

All right ringers, I told you a couple weeks ago, when profiling Weta Workshop, that the most impressive environment was going to be justaround the corner. Well, we’ve rounded the corner, and Rivendell is ready to be pre-ordered. If there was ever a must have environment this would be it!

Rivendell, the home of Elrond Half-Elven was found in 1697 of the second age where all the light of Middle Earth could go to have counsel during the darkness brought on by Sauron. Many of the most important characters of both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings would take refuge here to rest their weary minds and bodies.  Then in 2001 Sir Peter Jackson and the amazing crew at Weta brought this critical place in Middle Earth to life. The other morning in my email inbox, the weekly Weta Collectibles newsletter was sitting there waiting to be read. Of course as any fan does I opened ready to see if there was anything that I had to get into my collection. As I had hoped there was something that I will have to add as it’s really something I think you all should grab as well.

The crew from Weta has announced the ‘Disturber of the Peace‘ art print. Obviously, the name of this piece comes from when Gandalf entered Hobbiton and meets up with Frodo. The print however captures the scene as Gandalf The Grey knocks on Bilbo’s little gate door as they prepare for his 111th birthday. This piece has an amazing view of not only that moment but you get a truly beautiful look of the Shire as a whole.

Ben Wooten is the artist who is responsible for one of the best looking Lord of the Rings prints around. Mr. Wooten who for five years worked at Weta did work on movies like The Lord of the Rings and King Kong. He no longer works at Weta but when he did a couple of well know pieces he had a hand in where the Ringwraith on Steed and the Balrog from the statue line.

Disturber of the Peace‘ can be bought right now on Weta’s website and will be autographed by Mr. Wooten himself. The price of this art print is only $35 plus shipping which for an art print of this quality is a steal. Once framed this piece will look even more exceptional on your wall so please don’t pass up a chance to order this now. [Order]
