Jerry Vanderstelt is known by many fans of The Lord of the Rings for creating beautiful works of art capturing some of the coolest moments in the trilogy. Soonl, fans around the world will get a chance to start capturing his amazing art work for the trilogy of films for The Hobbit. That’s right! Jerry will be creating art for the trilogy starting with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey this December. “Hello fellow Middle Earth fans, Jerry VanderStelt here. As some of you know, I am a Licensed artist with New Line Cinema and Warner Brothers studios in the creation of the Lord of the Rings art reproductions. Now, I have expanded my fine art program to include The Hobbit!
My first Hobbit art piece is a montage that encapsulates key moments, characters and locations seen in the first film. After that, I plan to continue exploring new pieces that focus on either beautiful landscape scenery, character-centric pieces, or specific characters or groups of characters in various environments.
I hope to have my first Hobbit piece out of the gate by the Dec.14 in time for the film’s release. Soon, I’ll be announcing the pricing and sizing as well as the different edition options I plan to offer here in this thread. Feel free to ask any questions that may come up as we go along!”

If you’re a big fan of Tolkien and you’ve spent some time searching around for Tolkien related material online, you’ve probably come across an amazing replica of Minas Tirith built out of matchsticks. This eighth wonder of the world was designed and built by Pat Acton of Gladbrook, Iowa. Pat began building models of out of matchsticks in 1977, starting with a replica of his local church that consisted of 500 sticks. He’s since built over 60 models, including the U.S. Capitol Building, a space shuttle, and (using 600,000 matchsticks) the Hogwarts Castle from Harry Potter. His model of Minas Tirith, begun on April 7, 2007 and completed February 15, 2010, consists of 420,000 matchsticks, and includes hundreds of city buildings, as well as a certain white tree. In this exclusive for TheOneRing.net, TORN’s own J.W. Braun catches up with Pat and chews the fat, and Pat shares photos of the matchstick Minas Tirith model in development.

One of Sauron’s most powerful servants is the seventh statue from Sideshow’s growing and spectacular The Lord of the Rings statue line. This awesome statue captures of one the darker characters in the whole trilogy and illustrates one of a key scene: the moment when the Witch King stabs Frodo one Weathertop.
This statue is crafted to show the point-of-view of anyone other than Frodo (Frodo sees something very different because he is wearing the Ring.) I love Middle-earth. I also love collecting items representing that world. As you’ve probably noticed through the reviews here, I’ve got more than a few items in my collection. It helps bring the magic Tolkien created and Jackson adapted home along with smiles every time I look at my items.
Now, TORn, as part of our super-secret project, wants to showcase you and your collection!
Starting today, through to next Wednesday, we here at TORn will be collecting submissions in search of Ringer Super Collectors at large. What we need are three to four good pictures of you and your collection, along with a brief write-up about why you are a super collector (write-ups must be 500 words or less).

Today, Weta Workshop put up their most detailed environment yet. The Barad-Dur: Fortress of Sauron has gone up for order and after seeing this at Comic-Con just last month this is something fans will want to make sure to figure out how to get into their collection. Barad-Dur took the team at Weta over 1,500 hours to complete and when you get a chance to see this you will be able to see why.
