According to MovieHole.net, last week’s revelation of Hugo Weaving reprising his role as Elrond was a bit premature. They’ve talked to the popular actor and he said…
“I knew that if and when it happened I’d get a call and we’d chat about it, but I haven’t spoken to anyone about it. Someone said to me ‘I hear you’re doing the Hobbit?’ I said ‘Well, um, probably’, they said “No, no. you’ve signed on’. I haven’t actually talked to anyone about it. Doesn’t mean I won’t be doing it, [I’m] just not onboard yet.”
I’m sure we’ll hear official word one of these days, but in the meantime, it seems nothing is final.
Oscar-winning film-maker Peter Jackson is to head a major government review of the Film Commission – a body he once accused of making poor funding decisions. The appointment was announced today by Arts, Culture and Heritage Minister Chris Finlayson – with Jackson saying the review was timely in a rapidly changing international movie climate. David Court, head of screen business at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, would work with Jackson on the review. The pair will examine the Commission’s legislation and constitution, its functions, powers and finances. “The NZ Film Commission is a vital and indispensable component of our film industry,” Jackson said. PHOENIXVILLE — You’ll find a golden ring among other things this Sunday, as the Colonial Theatre will be hosting The Lord Of The Rings Marathon beginning at 10 a.m. The theatre is celebrating Father’s Day by showing all three films, in their extended versions, on 35 mm starting at 10 a.m. According to Kirsten Van Vlandren, associate director, the theatre is looking forward to a great turnout for the marathon.
