DoSEERelease2014Several Ringers have written into us about this preview of one of the additional scenes from the extended edition of The Desolation of Smaug from Yahoo Movies UK.

Enjoy 🙂

From Yahoo Movies UK:

Director Peter Jackson has never scrimped on the footage front with his movies.

And as this exclusive scene from ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug’ proves, the 25 minutes extra on the new Extended Edition will show off some intriguing new moments from Bilbo’s journey.

Showcasing Martin Freeman’s climbing skills, the group reach a swamp which they’ve been warned by Gandalf holds some dark secrets. That doesn’t appear to stop the dwarves though, who encourage Bilbo to cross as he’s the lightest.

You can get your copy on November 3, in 3D, DVD or HD Digital.

Pascal_Yung_-_DeerWith all the excitement over the teaser trailer for The Battle of Five Armies, we shouldn’t forget that the Warner Bros. presentation on The Hobbit at Comic-Con on Saturday started with a montage of shots from the five films so far released. It lasted a few minutes and mixed together shots from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

Almost all of these were very familiar to all of us fans present in Hall H. Two, however, were new. There was a quick shot of a snow-white stag in a forest and another of Thorin with his bow, obviously trying to shoot it.

My first thought was that these shots must be from the forthcoming extended edition of The Desolation of Smaug. I can’t believe that they would have been included in the montage otherwise. Continue reading “Comic-Con Montage: New Shots from Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition?”

IMG_0664 Our friends at Weta Workshop have some really fantastic stuff this year at Comic-Con from both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. As they announced last year at Comic-Con, The Lord of the Rings 1:6 statue line is back in the hands of Weta and this year we get two fantastic pieces to start that off. The first piece is the Balrog, in a huge scale standing at 21″ tall with a huge footprint because of the base. The other statue is Faramir – who, finally, after eight years since the end of the original The Lord of the Rings 1:6 statue line, gets to come home to us. We also get, for fans of the mini-statue line, a brand new Ringwraith mini-statue, which at the show was only $80.

lddspromo14 A Japanese website has just released four extended behind-the-scenes that feature never-before-seen footage and cool background information about Beorn, the Wargs of Wilderland, Lake-town and the Spiders of Mirkwood.

They don’t seem to be from the Theatrical Edition, and seem to be part of a “making-of” DVD/Blu-ray bundle that’s about to be released in Japan.

Check them out below (the first two are on this page, the second two are on page two). Note: if the embedded links below happen to go down, you can still find the originals here. Continue reading “New Desolation of Smaug behind-the-scenes vids reveal Beorn, Wargs, Lake-town and Spiders”
