As a follow-up to our post yesterday, we can confirm that the US and UK release date for ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey‘ remains December 14th 2012. There were a lot of websites reporting the UK release date was going to be December 26th, which then resulted in even other websites misconstruing the story suggesting the US release date was also being pushed. None of it is true, and our official sources confirm the date remains December 14th 2012. If that changes, TORn will be right here to alert you! (Join our social media outlets to get even faster alerts: @theonering.net / Facebook / Google Plus) We hope to also have a complete list of international release dates for you in the coming days. This week on the Hobbit Movie Board Radagast – Aiwendil proposed a different approach to the fall of the Necromancer, asking “wouldn’t a battle of wills between the White Council and the Necromancer be better than an all out magical showdown?” What do you think? Could this work cinematically for you or are you looking forward to seeing some wizardly/elven butt-kicking?

In an recent interview with InStyle magazine, Benedict Cumberbatch said he visited
the London Zoo to study the reptiles in preparation for his role as Smaug the dragon.
“It’s an extrapolation of a performance into something other than an actor. But essentially, you’re still doing a scene.”
Cumberbatch who also stars in the up-coming Star Trek 2 and plays Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock says that his acting parents helped him learn the importance of professionalism.
In other Cumberbatch news, apparently he’s also landed a small guest spot on the Simpsons. Its been recorded, but no word yet on when it might air, or what the part involved.

There have been a variety of rumblings out there today about the possibility of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey being delayed until December 26th 2012. A studio source has told us this is not true. The release date is December 14th 2012. Now, who’s ready for Comic-Con?!?
Earlier this week, Entertainment Weekly posted 10 new images from The Hobbit just in time for Comic-con — featuring Thorin, Gandalf, Mirkwood, Gollum and much more. We were pretty sure the gallery would reveal some nifty new details of what we can expect from the movie.
Then they dropped a couple more with their magazine — a cool image of Balin and Dwalin, and a close-up of Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield.
So TORn’s staffers have put their heads together to analyse the images. Read on to see what we found, and what we think! Of course, this post carries a SPOILER warning. Continue reading “TORn staff analyse all 12 Entertainment Weekly photos!”
