Following the successful series of art prints from both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Weta Workshop is making another beautiful print available to collectors. The second print in The Hobbit art print series takes us to one of the most memorable moments in the story: the Riddles in the Dark sequence between Bilbo and Gollum. The print is priced at $50 U.S. and will ship shortly after purchase. Be sure to order today so you can have this before The Hobbit opens in early December.

As the premiere of “The Hobbit: and Unexpected Journey” draws closer, we continue to get more information on what will certainly be one of the coolest items associated with the movie: today we have a third teaser image from artiste Jerry Vanderstelt. In this teaser image we get a glimpse of the three Trolls Bert, Tom, and William. The image also includes a shot of some of the Dwarves and of Bilbo running to catch up with them after they’ve left Bag End. Here is what Jerry has to say about teaser number three:
“Well, it’s another week of painting on the Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey artwork, and It’s getting pretty close now to a finish. For now, here is my third little teaser approved by Warner Brothers. This one shows just a small corner of the art with the three trolls, Bert Tom and Bill. Enjoy!”
TheOneRing.net and Red Carpet Tours Premiere Party was a hit. Happy fans, stunning costumes, wonderful music and to top it all off, we were visited by Peter Jackson, Elijah Wood, Andy Serkis, Richard Taylor, Tania Rodgers, Gino Acevedo, Philippa Boyens, and a whole parcel of assorted dwarves – Stephen Hunter, Peter Hambleton and John Callen, to name just a few – well, I’ve surely left some names off the list and I’m sorry for that. But it was a wonderful, wonderful night, and we’re just bowled over at the generosity of the stars who gave their time and enthusiasm so generously. It was fantastic to be able to thank them and show our appreciation for their hard, hard work.
Huge thanks to William Kircher (Bifur) who entertained the crowd with his great band California Dreamers – their Misty Mountains song was a huge hit. Jed Brophy (Nori) was great with his band The Last Resort, and Jed also did a superb job as MC, keeping the crowd happy and keeping everything going smoothly.
Pics will no doubt follow (there were plenty of you out there with cameras, so please send us your faves); meanwhile check out the amazing scenes captured on local media and the reports coming in on Facebook.
Update! Reports are coming in from some of our discussion board members who attended the party. Read their reports on our TORn Moots and Other Event board here.

Discussion board moderator, Ataahua (one of our resident Kiwis) sent in this great interview by Tom Cardy of stuff.co.nz with Peter Jackson. In the interview, Jackson reflects on the long journey that culminated in filming The Hobbit including differences vs. filming The Lord of the Rings. ‘‘I’m trying to shoot The Hobbit in the same style as The Lord of the Rings, but obviously the subject matter is different, in the sense, we’re following Bilbo [the hobbit] and the dwarfs and we’re taking them on this adventure – which is very different to any of what happens in The Lord of the Rings. It simply isn’t about such intense kind of issues and intense themes as The Lord of the Rings.’’ Read More…
