A press release with some precious details about the debut of the new ‘Hobbit’ trailer has been handed to us and while we thought we knew it all, there are tidbits that whet the appetite. This trailer, coming approximately three months before the film lands in wide release in theaters, will likely be the first specific look at the first of the three films, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s book The Hobbit, celebrating its 75th anniversary. It may give us clues about what to expect as it tries to sell the film to a mainstream audience.
Most interesting from the release is the phrase: “The new trailer is set to debut on broadcast and online media on September 19, 2012, then roll out in theaters around the world throughout the day.” So the obvious news is that the trailer will be broadcast, but where? Where online? And what films will it roll out with in theaters? There are several films scheduled for release on the 21st, including “Dredd,” “House at the End of the Street,” and Warner Bros., own, “Trouble with the Curve,” but none on the 19th. This probably means theaters have the trailers today with instructions to add them to existing films starting Wednesday. If that is true, each theater will have the option, so those wishing to watch the trailer on the big screen should call local movie houses.
TORn will update with any specifics but for now, here is the full press release: Continue reading “Official: ‘Hobbit’ trailer on broadcast, online, in theaters”

We must close out the group for TORn’s Hobbit Premiere Tour this week, so this is your last chance to join in this historic trip. Rooms in Wellington are in great demand right now, and we can no longer hold onto unsold space. So after Wednesday, anyone making an inquiry to join the trip will need to wait for a confirmation of space and a possible change to existing pricing. Please see our Tour Page for all the details, including schedule, contact information and the Registration Form. The tour will include 4 nights in Wellington during the time Wellington will be gearing up for the premiere, and then 2 nights in Auckland and a day trip down to Matamata, home of the Hobbiton movie set. There will be a Premiere party in Wellington, as well as the actual Red Carpet event, as seen in the photo, and a luncheon at Hobbiton. All with a wonderful Fellowship of fellow fans, visiting one of the most delightful countries you can imagine.
Don’t be left wondering ‘what if’ once November rolls around and TORn’s coverage of the Premiere kicks into high gear.

And mingling amongst all these creative types will be fans from around New Zealand and the rest of the world, including TheOneRing.net, and you can be amongst all this excitement by joining our tour. You will find further details at TORn’s Hobbit Premiere Tour.
Just today, it was announced that WETA is designing a welcome surprise for display at the Wellington Airport. It is said to be interactive and breathtaking, and this reporter can’t wait to see it for myself when I arrive there. You can read more about it in WETA’s newsletter. Join the discussion on our message boards and let us know who or what you think will be on display at the Wellington Airport here.
