Our pal Gunnar sends this along: Take a look at this story for German TV, coverage of The Hobbit starts around 22:10. It’s about Film NZ, Park Road Post, Hobbit, Avengers (Special fx by Weta) and Sam Neill (The Hunter), thought you might enjoy it. Some of the grabs are in English.
Silly. Amusing. Clever. The mashup work of some group known as TheTrailerCats, it’s the Hobbit teaser… except with cats. I could write more, but really it speaks for itself. Just go watch it. You know you can’t resist…
“It was on May the First that the two came back at last to the brink of the valley in Rivendell…”
At Hall of Fire, we’ve reached the end of our chapter-by-chapter read-through of the Hobbit. This weekend we’ll discuss the final chapter, touching on the return journey, the interlude in Rivendell, the final division of the troll hoard and the domestic chaos that Bilbo returns to.
But we’ll also be asking ourselves some wider questions. How has Bilbo changed? Has he matured? Might he have stayed in Rivendell? What does it mean that he returns to Bag End? And how does Bilbo’s fate compare with that of the dwarves, and especially The Master?
Join us on this Saturday, January 21, at 5pm EST when we’ll be examining all this and more as we wrap up our Hobbit read in Hall of Fire! Continue reading “Hall of Fire concludes our Hobbit reading this weekend!”
At the Sundance Film Festival because of his role in the film Celeste and Jess Forever, Elijah Wood spoke briefly about his participation in The Hobbit.
“Did my part already…” Wood said. “I was there for a month. It didn’t actually take that much time for the work. It was sort of half vacation and catching up with old friends and half work.”
“It had been 11 years since I’d been to Hobbiton,” Wood said. “I turned 19 in Hobbiton. That’s [expletive] crazy. I stood on the hill looking at the hobbit holes and I was, like, ‘I turned 19 here and I’m 30 now.’ It was such a weird thing. And a lot of the same crew were there. That was the most bizarre. It felt like taking a step back in time almost. It was extraordinary.”
