One of the most read members of TORn’s message boards dropped by to update us on “The Hobbit”. How reliable is this guy? Well, since he happens to be directing the two-movie adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s first published book in Middle-earth and is living in New Zealand to do so, we think trusting Guillermo del Toro’s information is rock solid. But, we are going to make you click inside to see what he had to say. (It was a lot) You can also follow the link to his post on our message boards and join in the conversation. coxIt still isn’t a confirmation but it is a good indication that AintItCool was on the right track when they claimed a source told them actor Brian Cox was potentially involved in the two-part film adaptation of “The Hobbit.” One of our world-wide network of spies was able to ask him face-to-face if the rumors were true that he was involved with the film and he answered with a chuckle and said, ‘I’m not at liberty to talk about that’. Sotheby's AuctionSotheby’s is delighted to announce that their English Literature, History, Children’s Books & Illustrations auction on 17 December (sale code L09777) will include an exceptionally early drawing by J.R.R. Tolkien. It is exceptionally rare for original artwork by Tolkien to be offered at auction. This early example depicts his aunt’s farm (‘Lamb’s Farm, Gedling, Notts’) and shows the location where he composed the earliest known writing that relates to his mythology.

The lot can be viewed here or the e-catalogue for the entire sale is available here (please note that the e-catalogue can take some time to load and the Tolkien drawing is lot 178).

Peter Jackson has had a busy old 2009 between The Lovely Bones, shepherding District 9, co-writing The Hobbit and overseeing Tintin. But now he’s started to look again at future projects and has pulled out dragon adventure Temeraire as a possibility for his next project.

Ain’t It Cool chatted with the man, and he revealed that the adaptation of Naomi Novik’s book series, which reimagines the Napoleonic wars with dragons, could finally be making its way to a screen – just not necessarily the cinema. More..
