Prime Video dropped a new lifestyle promo video chronicling a day in the life of a Lord of the Rings fan, in anticipation of Rings of Power.
Watch the video then ask yourself, does this confirm Ents are in the show? Also was that NIRNAETH ARNOEDIAD, the epic battle with elves & men & dragons?
Nerd of the Rings did an immediate deep-dive into this general TV ad to find many easter eggs including John Howe books, John Howe artwork, and several other callbacks to things that have come before. This may also hint at a theatrical release!
Seen in context of the marketing of Rings of Power, this unheralded video comes 4 months after the Superbowl teaser and 2 weeks after the big Harfoot reveal in EMPIRE magazine, yet still doesn’t reveal ANYTHING about the show. It is a great level-set and reminder of what it’s like being a fan, with many recalling the first time they ever read LOTR after watching this video.
The greatest gift this show can provide is bringing even more people into the books of JRR Tolkien. This Amazon ad aims in that direction.

The lonely shepherd

I watch the sunrise. I have watched it from the First Age. And you, you were there at my side and would always sing at it’s rising. But the days dawning is silent now.
You are gone.
I would wander out amongst the growing woods and trees. Coaxing them, Befriending them, Teaching them to talk.
We were as one.
You, my love, would show them the beauty of the fruit and the flower. Sharing your gift with your sisters in bringing colour and joy to this new world. Bringing an order to the hills and vales.
Divided now by brown earth and stone.
Fimbrethil. We were the guardians. Charged with protecting the forests and trees. Faithfully we have tended to their needs Though none, there seemed, stood by us. Driven away you were with the rising of the Darkness.
I am alone
Still. Your name alone brings me comfort. We are fated to meet ere the setting of the last sun. I know this will be I will wait. Until that day though.
I am alone.

Last weekend, the Hall of Fire crew delved into the Two Towers chapter Treebeard. Belatedly, for those who couldn’t attend, here’s a log. It’s a bit choppy to start but bear with it — my fault for still being half asleep when we kicked off.
