Our good friend Douglas Kane (better known to TORN as “Voronwe the Faithful”) is proud to announce that the paperback edition of his book “Arda Reconstructed: The Creation of the Published Silmarillion” has now been published. The paperback edition has revisions to the text and a slick new cover design (see picture). Better yet, it’s available for half the price of the original hardcover edition. The paperback edition is currently available on Amazon here. Continue to read more for some great reviews of this ‘must have’ for every Tolkien geek, collector and scholar.

Today is the annual Tolkien Reading Day where fans from around the world celebrate J.R.R. Tolkien and his works by simply reading. Some schools around the globe participate as do bookstores and coffee shops but many more take part in their own way, by themselves or with friends and family. How did you celebrate? There are excellent responses on TORn’s own Facebook page (and we like to be “liked”) or you can share your experience on our message boards by following the “discuss” link below. It is also an excellent time to check our our own Reading Room including this post. If you didn’t have a chance to read Tolkien today, its not too late in many time zones (and we promise not to tell if you do it a day late.)

John Di Bartolo writes: Hail friends! Just released the first episode of “The Minstrel, the Painter, & the Scholar” with Ted Nasmith & Dr. Corey Olsen. If you would like to post a link, or even re-release/distribute this mp3 through your own sites please feel free to do so. Glad to be able to share this with you all – and feel free to forward this to any friends or fellow podcasters! Cheers! Stay tuned for episodes 2 and 3 with John, Ted & Corey.

Did you ever want to ask a troublesome Tolkien question? Just who the heck is Tom Bombadil, anyway? Does the Ring think for itself? Well, you’ve come to the right place!

TheOneRing.net’s Reading Room is intended to be a forum for critical analysis and on-topic discussion of Tolkien’s literary works. Reading Room features include ongoing discussions of Tolkien-related books and topics, where volunteers lead ‘formal’ discussions, as well as posts of general interest you can make at any time!

So please feel welcome, don’t be shy (we don’t bite!) and jump right in! The Reading Room is open to all. [Reading Room]
