Ho Jai writes: I just wanted to share some information I have had today from -snip- who works for an advertising agency exclusively for Warner Bros in the UK. I tried to pump him for any information he may be able to obtain about the Trilogy release on Blu Ray. From their website, it appears Warner Bros in the US are releasing the Blu Ray Trilogy in November (this we already knew -Xo).
As far as UK release, Entertainment Film Distributors are still under contract to release New Line movies on home video until 2010, so Warner Bros won’t be involved in the UK release therefore no exact inside news. But I have been reliably informed that it will be a Q4 release around a similar time though.

Do you recall the thrill of watching the LOTR trailers for the first time? Did you choose the movies you went to see in the theater based on the probability that the LOTR trailers would be playing with them? Or, did you download them and play them over and over because they were so good? In a few weeks, Warner Bros. is planning to make an announcement about their plans for a Blu-Ray release of BOTH the Theatrical and Extended Editions of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. You may now begin cheering or cursing depending on whether or not you own a Blu-Ray player. More..

On Tuesday, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge decided that a lawsuit filed by J.R.R. Tolkien’s heirs against New Line Cinema should be brought before a jury. In the suit, filed in February 2008, The Tolkien Trust claims New Line owes them at least $220 million of the profits collected from Peter Jackson’s film trilogy (a 1969 contract promises the author’s heirs 7.5 percent of gross receipts from films and other related products). The case will go to trial Oct. 19. ‘Lord of the Rings’ lawsuit: Judge sends case to jury
