Spanish website Milenio has an interview up with Cate Blanchett discussing, among other things, her return to the role of Galadriel in The Hobbit.
Thanks to our message board member HiddenSpring for sending along a translation of the relevant bit.
Milenio: It’s been 12 years since you played Galadriel. How did it feel going back to that character and that universe?
Cate Blanchett: I’m more mature as an actress; that’s what made me want to play her again. Peter called me and thought I might not accept the role. I told him “Are you kidding me? Of course I will!”
Galadriel is a special character to me, mythic and fascinating. It was as enjoyable to shoot as Lord of the Rings. When I wore the elf ears again, I had this wonderful feeling of dejá vú. I couldn’t stop laughing.
I was very young when I played Galadriel. I hope to have evolved, to be a better actress, person and mother. Professionally I think I’m much more flexible now, and easier to work with. I know Peter thinks so! (laughs) Come Christmas the audience will be able to decide for themselves.
A lively discussion has ensued on our message boards. Feel free to check it out.

The CBS “Sunday Morning” variety news show had a nice interview with Elijah Wood this weekend. It included a short retrospective of much of his entire career from his debut with a small part in “Back to the Future II” (remember that?) to his current role in the TV series “Wilfred.” They also touched quite a bit on his role as Frodo in “The Lord of the Rings” and in the upcoming Hobbit movies; oh, and his love of music and food! Follow the link for a transcript – it’s definitely worth a read. Read More….

The fun and games never stop at DragonCon! Staffers from TORn have been busy all weekend, speaking at panels, running TORn’s booth and enjoying meeting with fellow fans. For a brief while this afternoon we were joined at the table by none other than actor Billy Boyd, who took over asking trivia questions to some delighted folks! Many people have stopped by to enjoy our ‘Don’t you know YOU’RE Sam’ photo opportunity – and Billy joined in the fun to create a slightly confusing hobbit line up!
One more day of festivity to go – expect more photos and reports later in the week!

Actors Billy Boyd, Craig Parker, and John Rhys-Davies captivated Dragon*Con yesterday with their enchanting accents and witty repartee as they hosted a panel at the Atlanta convention. Debbie Yutko writes:
“When asked about Peter Jackson’s upcoming film The Hobbit, all three actors agreed that it will be epic. Rhys-Davies predicted that The Hobbit will be a game-changer. ‘You’re going to see one of the greatest films of all time—soon,’ he said to rousing cheers and applause. He predicted that a lot more awards will be coming Peter Jackson’s way.”
Thanks to Ringer Lisa for the heads-up on the article.
