Elijah Wood says he is preparing to head down to New Zealand in October to film “The Hobbit,” the two-part prequel to the hit “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, and dished on what fans can expect to see, just as we reported back in January.

Warning: Spoiler alert!

Wood’s character, Frodo, was the main character in “Lord of the Rings” movies and is the nephew of Bilbo, who also appeared in the films. The character is the protagonist in “The Hobbit” novel by J. R. R. Tolkien, who penned the entire series. The book tells of Bilbo’s quest to find a treasure guarded by a dragon and also explains how he obtained the magic ring that drives the plot of “Lord of the Rings.” More..

Elijah Wood has made it to GQ’s Best Dressed list, a list that includes other fashion mavens like Bradley Cooper and Jack Black. Feel free to check out the link here.

Access Hollywood caught up with Elijah Wood in LA and spoke with him about his upcoming trip to New Zealand to reprise his role of Frodo Baggins in The Hobbit.

In related news, Access Hollywood also happened to snag an interview with Sean Astin and asked him what he thought about The Hobbit. You can catch the interview after the break below.

ComingSoon.net has an exclusive interview with Elijah Wood who’s going to be reprising his character of Frodo Baggins in The Hobbit films.

Here follows an excerpt from the interview (but make sure to head over to ComingSoon.net to read it in its entirety):

CS: What are you most excited about to have the opportunity to be a part of the prequels? Since it wasn’t necessarily built into the original novel that you guys from the “Rings” films would be there.

Wood: Yeah, not at all. Look, I’m just looking forward to going back to New Zealand and spending a bit of time there. There will be plenty of old friends that will be a part of it. Largely I would imagine the entire crew would be relatively the same. So in some ways I think it’s going to be a very surreal journey. It will feel like traveling back in time a little.

But I’m excited. There’s a lot of new elements to this. They’re shooting on the Red [camera]. They’re shooting in 3D, so that should be interesting.

The advertisements are appearing on FX television of Elijah Wood’s, aka Frodo Baggins, upcoming comedy series, “Wilfred“; an American remake of the hit Australian TV sitcom by the same name and with the same…dog?  Jason Gann (co-creator of the original series) reprises his Aussie role as Wilfred, a very cheeky canine, who plays the part in a very bad dog suit.

Ryan (Wood’s character) is a depressed, neurotic man preoccupied on the best way to commit suicide.  His plot is spoiled when his attractive neighbor (Fiona Gublemann of “Californication”) asks him to watch her “dog”, Wilfred, during the afternoons.  To her and everyone else, Wilfred appears as a normal dog; but to Ryan (and the audience); Wilfred is a full-grown man in a very bad dog costume.  Ryan struggles daily as he tries to keep Wilfred under control.  Unfortunately, Wilfred’s raunchy, self-serving tendencies challenge Ryan and have him questioning his grip on reality.  Eventually, Wilfred draws Ryan out and their relationship diverts him from his depression as Wilfred becomes his alter-ego and friend.
