The Swedish Hobbit Blogger writes: I read an article in the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. the article was an interview with Peter Jackson and Andy Serkis in which they were asked what their opinions on the performance of Mikael Persbrandt had been so far. Roughly translated Peter Jackson said that “He has been amazing.” and that they will do more scenes when the current break is over. Serkis opinion, who also said that he; thus far, have only directed Persbrandt in was scene, was that the Swedish actor “Is Impressive.” Here is a link leading to the article I’m referring to.
Mikael Persbrandt is playing Beorn in both films.

The Sun is reporting that actor James Nesbitt, Bofur in The Hobbit films, may be suffering from DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis). As we learned from PJ’s second production video, Nesbitt informed us during The Hobbit hiatus he will be golfing in the US at Pebble Beach and then returning to Ireland to enjoy his family and hang out with some mates. It is suggested his long travels from NZ may be the result of the DVT. Here’s an excerpt from the article:
James Nesbitt is reportedly suffering from suspected deep vein thrombosis after making several long-haul flights to New Zealand to appear in The Hobbit.
The Cold Feet star is playing dwarf Bofur in Peter Jackson’s Lord Of The Rings prequel, and has developed severe pains in his foot and ankle after flying back and forth between the UK and New Zealand to film, The Sun reports.
If its true, we hope James a speedy and full recovery!! Thanks to Ringer Ironfon [Read the Full Article]

Mariamante sends along this link to Time’s ‘Top 10 Most-Beloved Wizards‘ list, our very own Gandalf makes #3.
As if being a wizard wasn’t already cool enough, Gandalf is actually two wizards in one. At the start of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings novels — and the Peter Jackson movie trilogy they inspired — he’s the wise but aging Gandalf the Grey, a mentor to hobbits. But after battling a Balrog (yeah, look it up), he is transformed into the way more powerful, take-no-prisoners, all-around badass Gandalf the White. Bonus points: he’s played by Sir Ian McKellen in the movie.

Sackheim-Beutlin sends this in: Sir Christopher Lee is currently filming “The Hobbit”, as this German website says. Apparently, he wanted to attend a LOTR-Concert in Regensburg, Germany, this Friday, July 22nd, but had to cancel this due to the filming of the Hobbit. Here is a rough translation of the German text:
“Sir Christopher Lee, who would have loved to attend the performance [of the Lord of the Rings-Concert] personally, had to cancel his coming due to short-term not to be delayed shootings for ‘The Hobbit’. He regrets this fact very much, but will accompany this night in specifically for this concert created videos and interpretate the mystic texts from ‘The Lord of the Rings’.”
