Sir Ian McKellen is one very cool wizard… um… guy. On his Flickr account today he’s uploaded a picture that’s truly worth a thousand words. It’s been snapped by none other than Peter Jackson on The Hobbit set.
THE HOBBIT is being filmed in 3D. Even wizards have to wear the glasses.

It’s been more than a month since Sir Ian McKellen posted an entry on his blog “Notes From Imladris” dedicated to his adventures filming The Hobbit. But the wait seems to have been worth it.
His latest blog entry “THE HOBBIT, 2 Elves, and another Wizard” is replete with a picture of Hugo Weaving, who’ll be returning as Lord Elrond, a screencap from ROTK of Bret McKenzie as the Elf Lindir, and a picture of Sylvester McCoy who’s been cast in the role of Radagast the Brown.

Peter Jackson has posted another note on his official Facebook wall. In it he talks about the three phases of filming, a few stories from FOTR filming and a hint at what will be filming next:

From hollywood.com Bosses at Royal Mail have marked the 50th anniversary of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) by printing images of actors in classic William Shakespeare stage productions. Lord of the Rings star McKellen is shown with Francesca Annis from when they played Romeo and Juliet in 1976, while Tennant is pictured during his stint as Hamlet in 2008. RSC’s artistic director Michael Boyd says, “I am delighted Royal Mail has chosen to celebrate our fiftieth birthday with this set of stamps. It has been an almost impossible job to sift through 50 years of performances to choose images which represent the extraordinary range of work we have produced.”
