So now for the spoiler…highlight the text to read the details: (or if for some reason you can see text below, stop reading!)
“Kili’s part has been expanded from the novel; as well as chasing treasure, he’s also pursuing female elf Tauriel. But is he setting his sights too high? ‘I guess he knows nothing can ever happen,’ he explains. ‘She’s about 20ft tall and he’s only two!'”
So there you have it – at least one hint at how romance may play a part in The Hobbit! [TotalFilm]
All the details are still being hammered out, but TheOneRing.net is working furiously to plan a trip for fellow fans to travel with us to New Zealand and attend the red carpet event in Wellington for the world premiere of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” on November 28.
Since the date was announced, TORn has been in contact with groups in New Zealand trying to arrange the best possible trip with finances, time away and itinerary as considerations. Highlights of the trip include:
* A visit to Hobbiton Movie Set near Matamata
* Lining the ‘Red Carpet’ for a world-class Wellington premiere party
* A visit to the Weta Cave
* A TORn & Red Carpet Tours costume party
* Other Wellington movie-related experiences, time permitting
Speaking of Red Carpet Tours, fans also have the option of joining a longer Hobbit tour with the trusted tour group long associated with TORn. You can read the itinerary here for the 14-day extravaganza.
TORn expects to finalize details and require a deposit in the neighborhood of $300 for the late-November event. Funds will be used to secure hotel rooms and make other binding travel arrangements. It is expected that the final price will include round-trip air from Los Angeles to New Zealand. Details will be announced as soon as possible but expect to leave just after U.S. Thanksgiving and return about a week later. UPDATE: Yes, there will be land-only prices available.
Stay tuned for details but make arrangements now for this one-in-a-lifetime event!
This Saturday at 6pm EST (New York time), Hall of Fire returns to the Fellowship of The Ring as the hobbits take refuge in the house of Tom Bombadil and try to put the horror encounter with Old Man Willow behind them.
“I kept [Tom] in, and as he was, because he represents certain things otherwise left out.” — JRR Tolkien, Letter 153.
FoTR Book 1, Chapter 7: The House of Tom Bombadil
Frodo asks Goldberry who Tom is, and she replies mysteriously that Tom is “master of wood, water and hill.” Tom himself proves scarcely less enigmatic, yet is oddly knowledgeable about Frodo’s quest.
Completely crazy I know, but that evil Queen from “Thor & Bella,” is back. She didn’t die and in fact in the horribly scary future, she travels on space ships to moons that are years away. I don’t mind because she has toned down the freaky, evil magic and instead is just kinda stern but that is what happens to bosses who don’t have full support from management, which she is.
Oh and she isn’t even slightly ugly and does pushups covered with jelly preservatives and sweat, which is pretty sweet. I still don’t think she smiled once in the whole movie but, didn’t bother me.
So the movie I saw is “Prometheus,” but the truth is, it reminds me sooooo much of these shows I remember about aliens with freaky-deaky black banana heads, sharp teeth, slime skin and acid blood. First there was one about just one of these black, creepy-as-bleep death machines (with a robot modeled after the original Bilbo Baggins) and then there was a sequel with dozens of nasty aliens and their way-clingy babies. Today, in their ‘Road to Comic-Con 2012 Email Campaign,’ Sideshow Collectibles teased the next statue in The Lord of the Rings statue line. Making an appearance at Comic-Con, and later our collections, will be the Witch-king in True Form which can be paired with the Ringwraith statue Sideshow announced a few months back. No details on anything else at this time, but there is a great video on the Sideshow Experience page that you can check out. [Video Link]
Total Film has released their annual “Future 100” issue. As well as people, the list covers projects and trends in film to watch for the next 18 months. Last year ‘The Hobbit’ production itself made it into the top 10. This year several of ‘The Hobbit’ cast made it into the top 30: Aidan Turner, Evangeline Lily, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Luke Evans and Benedict Cumberbatch, respectively. None of this is surprising given the standard Peter Jackson has set for his productions, and all of it makes December seem so far away.
