Orlando Bloom In The Hobbit: A Done Deal?

May 8, 2011 at 11:28 am by Earl  -

The BBC America Blog has an interesting interview with Orlando Bloom where his words seem to imply he’s going to be a part of The Hobbit (as, of course, the Elf Legolas).

Here’s one of the statements he makes:

I can’t really discuss it too much at this point, but I’m very excited at the prospect of being a part of it again. I think it will be wonderful to get back there.

Read the rest of the interview for Orlando’s thoughts on Peter Jackson as a director, and the themes of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

What do you think? Is Orlando Bloom pretty much going to be in these movies at this point? Follow the “Discuss” link to share your thoughts with fellow fans on our message boards.

I met Orlando in March (this year of course) and he said to me, he will be in the hobbit and the shoot for him will start later this year.

  2. GillGalad says:

Very nice! This movie is getting better and better.

  3. Wondering says:

If the hobbit takes place in an earlier time than LOTR, how can an obviously older Bloom play Legolas in his younger days? Perhaps he would be better to play his own father or another relative?

  4. Cartemay says:

Hi wandering. As elves aged so slowly, a hundred years would have seemed like a few weeks. Of course they would have to compensate slightly for Orlando’s natural aging. These days with either make-up or technology, they seem to have no problem doing that. Or they could just allow our imaginations to make up for the difference.

  5. GillGalad says:

60 years are nothing to Elves since they’re immortal.

    Older Bloom, younger Legolas…not a problem, it’s elves…
Actually, Weta probably has some great makeup magic up their sleeves… And Bloom, like Johnny Depp, must be one of Them (what aging????)
