You were sporting a pretty impressive beard at the Hobbit press conference. Is that for Kili?
AIDAN TURNER: Yeah, it is. I’m growing out the beard. We’re giving it a chance, seeing what it looks like.Is that how Peter Jackson plans to make you less handsome and more dwarf-like?
To de-handsomify me? [Laughs] No, not really. I mean, famously in the books, the dwarves have really long beards, so we’re just trying stuff out and seeing what it looks like.Are you in “hobbit boot camp” now?
Yeah. Well, it’s dwarf boot camp, not really hobbit boot camp. It’s just all dwarves—training and stuff.

Ringer Spy Mr. Anderson sends along these exclusive pics of The Hobbit sets being built in Miramar, NZ. If you look closely at some of the pictures, you’ll notice that the architecture seems to resemble that of Moria. I’m sure we can all draw our own conclusions, but could this be a flashforward sequence for Moria? Maybe we are getting a peak into the Lonely Moutain? The performances feature Howard Shore’s Academy Award®-winning score performed live, synchronized to film.
Erik Ochsner, known for his clear, powerful conducting presence and attention to detail, is one of today’s promising and gifted conductors. He is the music director/founder of SONOS Chamber Orchestra, winner of the 2003 American Scandinavian Society’s Cultural Advocacy Award. Ochsner led the ensemble in six U.S. premieres, including Karl Jenkins’ Requiem, and two world premieres. This season, Ochsner will conduct the U.S. premiere of Fredrik Sixten’s Requiem.
Ochsner is the cover conductor for the worldwide tour of the Lord of the Rings films projects. He was the assistant conductor/chorus master for the Shanghai workshop of Tan Dun’s The First Emperor (a Metropolitan Opera World Premiere Commission), and the World premiere of Dun’s The Map with Yo-Yo Ma and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. A graduate of Dartmouth College, Ochsner studied with Marin Alsop, Charles Bruck, Erich Kunzel, Helmut Rilling, and Robert Spano. More..
