As news of the apparent resolution to this whole Hobbit mess hits the wire, we have more video to show you of the protest, and the local news coverage. First take a look at a fan made video of the protest, then a news report featuring Helen Kelly, president of the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions.

That stupid president lady is so stubborn! She just wont “back down”, will she? You lost lady! Move out of the way already!!!

Helen Kelly is using manipulative, dishonest language in that last clip.

It’s hard to believe how much anguish she and a tiny minority have caused for thousands upon thousands of people employed in the NZ film industry. They are breaking our hearts. They are, potentially, destroying our film industry. 30 years to build it up, one ill-conceived, unbalanced boycott to bring it down. How horrifying is that?

Helen may spin it like it’s not the case, but NO ONE wants to make The Hobbit elsewhere. It’s just that Whipp and the unions have created an environment where the studios feel it’s too risky. They’ve been pushed far enough that they think they need to take the production elsewhere. Understandably, they don’t want to gamble with 500+ million dollars.

Helen Kelly, are you reading this? My partner, who may lose his job over this, looked you right in the eye on Monday, and cried out “what you and the tiny handful you represent are doing are doing has eviscerated the entire NZ film industry. You know that, how can you be standing here scolding US for trying to stop it?” You ignored him. You sneered at all of us, HUNDREDS of us. You had the nerve to blame US for the Hobbit being taken away.

Nothing you said to us when we marched on Wednesday was completely truthful, honest or fair. Nothing you’re saying now to the press is, either.

By using loaded, slanted union lingo to confuse people as to the reality of the situation, you may have cost ALL of us our jobs.

The damage is done. I don’t know how you can sleep at night, lady.
