Most fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit could not imagine a role for Megan Fox in the delayed-but-upcoming film.  And neither can her Jonah Hex director Jimmy Heyward, who did remark to FOXNews that Fox was a big fan of Lord Of The Rings

When asked if she might snag a roll in The Hobbit, he replied “No!  She’s too hot for that.”

However, PopEater mentions Fox frequently visits Lord Of The Rings forums (TORN message board, anyone?) and “speaks nerd fluently”.

While The Hobbit may not fit, perhaps we’ll see the luminous Ms. Fox go after the role of Luthien Tinuviel in a future adaptation of The Silmarillion.   But if she’s chosen as a Wood-elves princess or a beautiful resident of Laketown, here’s hoping she announces it on TORN first!

Mark Morton from Examiner.com writes: I just wanted to drop you a line to share with you an exclusive interview I recently obtained with three-time Academy Award winning composer Howard Shore, where we discuss his work on ECLIPSE. I believe this is the first interview he has done to support the film. You can read the story here.

Also, for your reading pleasure, I wrote a track-by-track review of the ECLIPSE movie score, which is scheduled to arrive in stores on June 29. You can read that here.

Mr Stephen Raw is visiting the US 28 July – 12 August 2010 on a one-off visit to promote the only limited edition prints of the original drawings of the maps used in all editions since the revised version of 1994.

He is particularly interested in talking to Tolkien enthusiasts and sharing his experience of the year-long process of re-drawing the maps under the tutelage of Christopher Tolkien (see attached description from the book). He has an extensive archive of letters and faxes from Christopher while they worked on perfecting the maps which are so integral to the world depicted in ‘The Lord of the Rings’. Thanks to Ringer Chris for pointing us to the latest episode of BBC’s ‘The Graham Norton Show.’ Graham’s guests included actor Bill Bailey who has further confirmed his audition for the role of Gloin in the upcoming ‘Hobbit’ films. The online video is available for UK Ringers, but here is a brief summary provided by Chris…

For those who can watch it, it’s about 22min 40sec into the programme that they discuss it. Graham mentions that Bill had auditioned for a movie and asks him if he is allowed to talk about it. One of the other guests asks him which movie it was and he said it was The Hobbit. This led to several jokes about Bill’s appearance, how he would be perfect for the film and wouldn’t need any makeup. He said that he went along and read for the part of Gloin and mentioned that he was Gimli’s father from The Lord of the Rings. He said that he and certain other people (no other names mentioned) were invited along to read for the part. He then joked that if he didn’t get the part, he would go on tour with his own prog-rock Hobbit musical.

Here’s the link to the full video on the BBC website. [Video] The show is also in regular rotation now on BBC America- you can find listings here.
