A total of $15,000 in cash will be awarded to the best short films depicting Kong’s journey back to Hollywood. Universal Studios Hollywood plans to use the winning videos in the park, online, and for broadcast.

Catastrophe stuck at Dodger stadium early yesterday morning, when giant ape footprints were found lining the baseball field, tracking from home plate through to center field. Further investigations revealed that the footprints belonged to none other than King Kong, who had decided to monkey around in the famous stadium on his way to headlining a new attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood, King Kong 360 3-D.

(CNN) — Before “The Lovely Bones,” the aughts had been a charmed decade for Peter Jackson.

It began with the one-two-three punch of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, a juggernaut that grossed almost $4 billion worldwide at the box office and won 17 Oscars — 11 of those, including best picture and best director, for the final chapter, “The Return of the King.”

Jackson followed “Rings” with his 2005 remake of “King Kong,” which was another huge success both at the box office and with critics. He donned his producer’s hat for 2009’s “District 9,” a low-budget South African film that made $200 million worldwide and was nominated for best picture. [Read Full Story]

Tom from dvdactive.com sends along news the Peter Jackons’s ‘The Lovely Bones’ will be out on DVD and Blu-ray on April 20th. More details: Paramount Home Entertainment has announced 1-disc DVD ($19.99) and 2-disc Blu-ray ($29.99) releases of The Lovely Bones for the 20th April. We have no word on any extra material for the 1-disc DVD – if anything is included we’ll let you know just as soon as we hear anything. The 2-disc Blu-ray however will include an extensive production diary in 15 segments hosted by Peter Jackson and Philippa Boyens that follows the film’s shoot and post-production work on the visual effects.
