Last weekend we watched the Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition. This Sunday (November 24) from Midday ET (that’s New York time), we’ll be continuing our LOTR and Hobbit marathon fun in the Barliman’s chat as we haul out our copies of The Two Towers Extended Edition and all press “play” at the same time.
Mark it in your calendar and come join us for an entirely geeky viewing of The Two Towers where you can share thoughts and observations with fellow fans!
Just a reminder that November’s Rewrite Tolkien contest – The Hobbit as written by J.K. Rowling/ The Harry Potter series – ends on Monday, November 25th at noon, Eastern Standard Time. The winning entry will be read on TORn’s newest show, TORn Book Club. So get those entries in soon, and tune in on Sunday, December 1st at 3:00 pm Pacific Time to hear the winner at TheOneRing.net Live. The winning entry, as well as 2 runners-up, will have their entries posted on TORn’s home page.

This Sunday, November 10th, at 3PM PST, TheOneRing.net Live is proud to premiere our brand new show: TORn Book Club!
Hosted by long time staffer Sarumann, this show will focus on literature and all things to do with reading and writing. While we certainly have a bias toward Tolkien, this show will not focus only on Tolkien and his works, but also on all manner of classic fantasy and science fiction. As the title implies, this will have a book club feel to it. Every month, we will choose a book for you, the viewers, to read, and we will have a discussion on the book at the end of that month. We know that our fans are voracious readers, and love to discuss what they find.
But the show isn’t just book discussions! With November being National Novel Writing Month, fans who are participating are encouraged to tune in and share your progress! Each week in November, we will be discussing the ups and downs of writing, and giving advice and pointers to the aspiring writers in the crowd.
When we can, we will also have author guests on the program to discuss their works and their experiences as writers.
We will also be announcing the monthly winners for our “Rewrite Tolkien” contest on this show!
As you can see, there is plenty to talk about, and we’re excited to bring this new show to you!

It’s time to announce November’s Rewrite Tolkien contest, where you, the fans, can rewrite your favorite passages or scenes in the style of a classic author. We will select a theme each month, and then it’s up to you to put your spin on it!
The theme for the month of November is:
The Hobbit as written by J.K. Rowling/ The Harry Potter series
Using characters from ‘The Hobbit’, come up with a poem or short story in the style of J.K. Rowling – Gandalf’s early years at Hogwarts…Beorn vs. Fluffy…Dobby the house elf paying his cousins in Mirkwood a visit- It’s up to you!
Our judges will read through all of your submissions, and choose the best of the bunch. The Grand Prize Winner will get their entry read live by our own Quickbeam on the first TORn Tuesday of December, as well as having it published here on TheOneRing.net. Two runners-up will have their stories posted here on TORn.
