This week we have something a little different from previous articles you’ve seen with this column. Art Prints are a collectible I love adding to my collection especially when the subject is The Lord of the Rings. So, I wanted to take the time and get something set up with one of the leading artist out there working in Middle-earth.
The artist that I wanted to bring to your attention is the one and only Jerry Vanderstelt. You may recognize Jerry’s work from his The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Prints, ‘Clash of The Kings,’ ‘Fell Beast Print,’ or his most recent ‘Sauron’ Print. Not to mention Jerry has done many Star Wars pieces for ACME Archives. These art prints from Jerry are some of the best pieces in my collection, and only add to the amazing items we’ve seen from Weta and Sideshow Collectibles. Needless to say after seeing the print pictures in this article and reading the Q&A below, you need to go to Jerry Vanderstelt’s site and get your prints now!
Finally, I want to thank those that helped with some of the questions. Sending them in really aided me in getting this article finished. Click the ‘Continue’ button to read the interview.
We have a few extra shirts leftover from our Spring 2011 Collection. There are two designs in this collection: ‘TheOneRing.net Lousy T-Shirt 2011‘ and ‘Mirkwood Pest Control – No Spider too Large!’ If you would like to own one of these shirts, we highly suggest you place your order immediately. In most cases, we have less than 2 of each size and style. If you get to the ordering page and notice your size is not listed, it has sold out. Proceeds from the sale of these shirts will go to our server costs, so Thank You in advance for helping keep TheOneRing.net online! [Buy the Lousy T-Shirt 2011] [Buy the Mirkwood Pest Control Shirt]
Here’s some local coverage of a global telethon raising funds for the New Zealand Government’s Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. The cast and crew of The Hobbit are involved, and we encourage you to be as well. [Donate]
The videos below feature an Interview with Ian Mckellen, comments from Peter Jackson, and some fun dwarfish antics! Enjoy!
At least that’s what Ringer Jim decided when he built his new shed, and four and a half years later, that’s just what he’s got.
Jim said “I needed a place to put my lawn tractor and outdoor tools so I told my wife that I was going to build a shed. She said: “Fine.” Then I thought it would be pretty cool if the shed was built like a Hobbit house. When I told my wife I think she said: “You’re crazy. …”
Well crazy or not, we think it looks pretty good. So check out this unique and rather cool shed, here at Jim’s page where he shares his four and half year quest. While you’re there why not leave a message for Jim letting him know what you think and then head over to our message boards and tell us.
All right ringers, I told you a couple weeks ago, when profiling Weta Workshop, that the most impressive environment was going to be justaround the corner. Well, we’ve rounded the corner, and Rivendell is ready to be pre-ordered. If there was ever a must have environment this would be it!
Rivendell, the home of Elrond Half-Elven was found in 1697 of the second age where all the light of Middle Earth could go to have counsel during the darkness brought on by Sauron. Many of the most important characters of both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings would take refuge here to rest their weary minds and bodies. Then in 2001 Sir Peter Jackson and the amazing crew at Weta brought this critical place in Middle Earth to life. Follow the break for more images and details! Do all of Bilbo’s guests now need 3D glasses to see properly in Bilbo’s home. After seeing Sir Ian McKellen sporting his new shades, we wondered this to ourselves. Or maybe it’s just the wine and ale that’s making everyone see red and blue or double?
Here’s The ‘old’ The Fellowship of the Ring Bag End in 3D! Check out these two videos with your classic 3D glasses:
