Fans of the site woot! know what great deals they offer every day. For those not familiar with woot.com, they feature a deal a day (usually a really GOOD deal) in a variety of categories. One of those categories is shirts, and today’s shirt is just the thing for anyone who wants to sport an in-vogue, slightly dressy layered look and an 18 kt. gold replica of the One Ring, but only has a t-shirt budget. Today’s One Ring shirt is going for a very affordable $12.00 USD. The deals are typically good for 24-hours or until items sell out. There are still shirts left at this time, so snap one up before they’re gone. Read more…

“I’m Glad To Be With You, Samwise Gamgee, Here At The End Of All Things”
In their latest newsletter Sideshow Collectibles announced the next statue in their truly superb The Lord of the Rings line. The two characters joining this line are none other than the ringbearer himself Frodo Baggins, and his good friend Samwise Gamgee. As you can see from the preview image, this statue captures the two hobbits in orc disguise, as they make their way across Mordor to destroy the One Ring. This is the first statue of this line to incorporate two characters from the trilogy, and it also puts us just two hobbits away from finishing off the Fellowship. So make sure you’re ready next Thursday when this amazing statue goes up for Pre-Order!
The Warner Bros. legal team has shut down the development of a free Lord of the Rings mod for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
The all-volunteer, unpaid team of game enthusiasts behind the mod say they repeatedly attempted to negotiate a compromise that would allow them to proceed in some form, but Warner Bros. rebuffed all of their proposals. Warner Bros. first requested that the 40-person-strong development team cease all work on the project, called MERP (Middle-earth Roleplaying Project), in July.
“Modding” is a term used to describe when users unofficially adapt or alter a game beyond its original specifications. Modders will often create new characters, character skins, plotlines and dialogue, music or even entirely new worlds for their favourite games.
Mod developer Alasdair Hurst believes MERP’s main problem could be that people need to buy Skyrim first.
“But the mod itself will be available to all the fans for free.” Continue reading “Warner Bros. shut down free Skyrim LoTR mod”

Today marks the day the New Zealand Post, in an exclusive arrangement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Warner Bros. Pictures, and the filmmakers, releases commemorative stamps and coins for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
New Zealand Post’s spokesman for stamps and coins Simon Allison says:
We’re the only country in the world with the rights to produce these highly collectable coins, featuring iconic characters from what is sure to become a classic series of films.
The items announced today are appropriate mementoes of the film, and fit in with the mythology of Middle-earth – New Zealand. We’re committed to honouring the legacy of Sir Peter’s films, by creating stamps and coins of the highest quality.
Hit the break for hi-res pictures of the stamps and coins, and the world exclusive press release for the same, courtesy of our friend Emma over at New Zealand Post.
Thanks to Ringer Oleander Took for spotting this in the Warner Bros. press release today regarding their 90th anniversary slate of offerings:
“And finally, among the new films you can expect on Blu-ray and DVD in 2013 are The Wachowskis’ Cloud Atlas and – officially confirmed here for the first time – Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey – Extended Edition (Q4). One suspects a theatrical cut will be released earlier in 2013, following the home video release pattern of the previous Lord of the Rings films. And it’s reasonable to suspect that a Blu-ray 3D version will be forthcoming as well.”
Great news for Peter Jackson, Tolkien and movie fans everywhere! Join us in the speculation about which scenes will be in the theatrical release and which we’ll have to wait for the extended edition to see. Hobbit Discussion board, Barliman’s Chat, facebook, Twitter. Read More…
