Today, January 28th is Elijah Wood (Frodo) birthday! Elijah was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1981. That makes him the big 20 today! Happy Birthday Elijah! One more until you’re legal in the US!

LONDON, Jan 25 (Reuters) – Britain”s Queen Elizabeth will not attend the country”s first Holocaust Memorial Day this weekend, further fuelling the debate over who should or should not attend the highly controversial event.
Buckingham Palace said on Thursday the Queen had turned down the invitation to Saturday”s memorial in London and would not interrupt an extended Christmas break. A palace source added that the monarch”s diary was planned months in advance, but that her son and heir to the throne Prince Charles would take time off from his private engagements in order to attend.
…Despite the debate, Prime Minister Tony Blair will lead politicians, church leaders and charity workers at the ceremony, which will be broadcast live on television and radio. Also attending will be Britain”s Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, actor Ian McKellen and rock star Bob Geldof.

“Just wanted to let you know we saw Elijah Wood on Thursday night at the Sno-Core Icicle Ball (Galactic, Les Claypool’s Flying Frogs), in LA. We over heard him saying how nice it was to be back home for a day and out with his friends, since he had to catch a flight back to New Zealand in the morning….not to much gossip here, but thought you’d enjoy the sighting….by the way, we couldnt help commenting that he looks like Frodo should look in real life….this role will characterize him forever!”

The ‘LA TIMES’ (via DarkHorizons) has some new pics for movies to look out for in 2001. Our very own LOTR film is listed of course, as well as the Cate Blanchett (Galadriel) film ‘Heaven’. In the film Cate ‘takes justice into her own hands’, it is directed by Tom Tykwer. ‘Heaven’ was filmed in Germany and Italy, and is currently in post production.
