Imagine for a moment, if you will, that you jump forward in time more than three months, ending up in the Spring of next year.  You’ve joined fellow fans at the world premier of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in Wellington; you’ve had a great time at a local Line Party; you’ve seen the movie umpteen times; you even went to Los Angeles in February and had a spectacular time at An Unexpected Art Show and The One Expected Party with the folks from TORn.  But now, March is drawing to an end and it’s months until San Diego ComicCon.  What to do in the meantime?

Well, you could go to Germany and enjoy HobbitCon!  The folks who bring you RingCon each year are holding a special event in Bonn next March 30th and April 1st, to celebrate the Hobbit movie.  This event, called ‘There and Back Again – A Hobbit Convention’, will take place at the Hotel Maritim and will include Q&A, autograph and photo sessions.  Excitingly, a good number of the movie’s cast are already signed up to attend; you can read more details here.   Sounds like a fun way to spend a weekend!  With events like these to keep us all occupied, The Desolation of Smaug will be here before we know it!

Warner Brothers has kicked off their Awards Season website for many of their films, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey among them. The page links to the Official Website and trailer, gives a brief synopsis of the story, and then lists all the names of the people who worked in eligible categories, from the Writers to the Sound Effects people, and a few of the actors. And just as a tease, there is a list of screenings, but those screenings are for Academy voters and members of the various Guilds (Screen Actors, Writers, Directors, etc) only. A full list of eligible names and categories below. Hopefully this means we will have a lot to celebrate at our own Oscar Party! [Website]

Emerald Rose

On Monday we shared with you the very exciting news that Billy Boyd and Beecake will be our headliners for our live show at The One Expected Party in Hollywood next February.  Now we are thrilled to let you know that our favourite Celtic rock band will be back to open the show for us!  Four piece band Emerald Rose have been great friends of TheOneRing.net since we met at DragonCon more than ten years ago, and fans danced the night away to their music at our Oscar parties for The Two Towers and The Return of the King.   Their music ranges from traditional jigs and reels to original folk rock and pop numbers; we’re pretty sure Bilbo would have hired them for his birthday party if he could have!  You can learn more about them here; we can’t wait to welcome them back on to the stage at the Hollywood American Legion on Oscars night – February 24th 2013!

Excited about this party yet?!  Tickets will go on sale very soon!

Here at TheOneRing.net we’re working full steam ahead to get our The One Expected Party subsite up and running, so we can share with you all the fun and excitement we have planned for this stellar event in Los Angeles next February.  You can expect more announcements from us this week, with tickets going on sale very soon – watch this space!  But meanwhile…

We are thrilled and honoured to announce that Billy Boyd and Beecake will be joining us as headliners for The One Expected Party!  Boyd, Rick Martin and Billy Johnston – the trio who make up the Scottish rock band – have agreed to fly over from Glasgow to join us in Hollywood for a night of revelry.  We are delighted that they are able to take time out of their busy schedules to party with us!  The band may have a couple of other gigs on the West Coast whilst they are over; we’ll be sure to keep you informed of any further dates they play.  In the meantime. get ready to buy those tickets – soon! – so you can join us and Beecake in Hollywood on February 24th 2013, to celebrate The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey!
