DoSEERelease2014Several Ringers have written into us about this preview of one of the additional scenes from the extended edition of The Desolation of Smaug from Yahoo Movies UK.

Enjoy 🙂

From Yahoo Movies UK:

Director Peter Jackson has never scrimped on the footage front with his movies.

And as this exclusive scene from ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug’ proves, the 25 minutes extra on the new Extended Edition will show off some intriguing new moments from Bilbo’s journey.

Showcasing Martin Freeman’s climbing skills, the group reach a swamp which they’ve been warned by Gandalf holds some dark secrets. That doesn’t appear to stop the dwarves though, who encourage Bilbo to cross as he’s the lightest.

You can get your copy on November 3, in 3D, DVD or HD Digital.

Thank you to all the Ringers who contacted Spymaster@theonering.net

Charles Ross - One Man Lord of the RingsThose who came to The One Expected Party in February 2013 will remember the wonderful performance from Charles Ross, the man behind The One Man Lord of the Rings. Ross’ show is absolutely hilarious – a must see for Middle-earth fans! If you’re able to get along to the Edinburgh Fringe this year, you can see The One Man Lord of the Rings at Assembly George Square. The show runs (on odd days) 4th to 25th August. See it if you can!

We also hear, from Ringer Spy Daniel, that this week only there is a Lord of the Rings related comedy show as part of the Free Fringe. The Orc Mischief will present their routine of comic (and according to them, ‘tongue in cheek and often obscure’!) songs at the Edinburgh Fringe festival from 2nd – 9th August at the Ibis Hotel on South Bridge. Find out more about this act at their facebook page.

Alas, the shows overlap so you can’t see both on one day – but there’s so much to do in the Edinburgh Festival, why not stay in town for a second day? And take in two Hobbity shows for the price of one!

frodo-cirith-ungol This Saturday at 6pm ET, Hall of Fire finally cracks open Book 6 of The Lord of the Rings as we examine the events of The Tower of Cirith Ungol.

Sam roused himself painfully from the ground. For a moment he wondered where he was, and then all the misery and despair returned to him. […] He wondered what the time was. Somewhere between one day and the next, he supposed; but even of the days he had quite lost the count. He was in a land of darkness where the days of the world seemed forgotten, and where all who entered were forgotten too.

The Return of the King: Book VI, Chapter I: The Tower of Cirith Ungol

Sam awakes by the under-gate to the orc stronghold in Cirith Ungol. Continue reading “Hall of Fire chat this Saturday: The Tower of Cirith Ungol”
