Neither Sean Bean Nor Boromir In The Hobbit

January 20, 2011 at 8:47 am by Earl  -

Here’s some news concerning what’s NOT going to happen in the upcoming Hobbit films. The Belfast Telegraph caught up with Sean Bean who, as fans well know, played the tragic character Boromir in the Lord of the Rings films, and asked him whether he sees himself returning to The Hobbit in some way.

Here’s what Sean Bean had to say:

I don’t think so. I played Boromir and I got knocked off in the end so I don’t think it would be… I mean I could come back as a different character but I think he [Peter Jackson] is looking for a new kind of style and maybe a new look.

I know a few people who are in it and should be very exciting.

One of the best characters in the Fellowship.

  2. Weslasher says:

I dont see how he could be anyway as he is a mortal man in his 30-40’s and the Hobbit takes place 60 years earlier. I mean even at best if the second movie were to go into 40 years past the time of Smaug he would still be a pre-teen. The mortal men dont have the luxury of the 300 year life life Aragorn or 1000′ of years like the elves. Just sayin

Well i can’t see how they would have fitted him in anyway.

He was Boromir – he shouldn’t be in The Hobbit, for God’s sake.

Boromir would not even have been born yet!

Of course he wouldn’t be in the Hobbit….

But I still think he should have been Aragorn, as much as I love what Viggo did. Sean Bean would have been THE Aragorn, IMHO.

Hay Weslasher you’re right about Boromir’s age ect., but the elves did not live for a 1000 years they lived a lot longer. In fact they were immortal. Galadriel, who was far older than Elrond was (if I remember right) over 10,000 years old.
