ComingSoon.net is reporting that Hugo Weaving, aka Elrond from The Lord of the Rings films, is in talks to play the villain Red Skull in the upcoming ‘Captain America‘ movie. If Hugo takes the role, he would be reuniting with director Joe Johnston (Wolfman). The film is expected to be released July 2011. What does this mean for Hugo’s involvement in the upcoming ‘Hobbit’ films? Your guess is as good as ours, but with the continuing rumblings that the first Hobbit film will not be released until Dec 2012, this may have no effect at all on his availability. It’s fairly unusual for an academic volume to be published in paperback, so this is a real coup for Dimitra and Tolkien studies. It’s due out on 14th August 2010, but you can always pre-order a copy from your local bookshop or on line.
