I picked up a copy of the complementary magazine published by the ‘Cineworld’ cinema chain here in the UK because it contained an interview with Liv Tyler about ‘The Two Towers’. Amongst all the usual stuff about costumes and elf ears there was one answer that caught my eye:

Q. You shot the trilogy a few years ago. What have you carried forward with you since that experience ended?

Liv: “The thing that I don’t think everybody understands is that we’re still working on it. I can’t tell you much work I’ve done on it in this year [2002] alone! We went to New Zealand for a month this summer and did pickups. We shot all sorts of new scenes – it was like shooting another movie all over again, and that was just for film two. And I just came back from London, where I spent two weeks recording a song for the soundtrack. I’d been working for a voice teacher for five months on that. Plus, we just completed all the post-production looping and voice overs.”

He has been causing a stir since the movie came out last month, the long-awaited second instalment of the Lord of the Rings. While Gandalf, Stryder(that’s Strider -Xo) and Legolas hold their own in Peter Jackson’s epic, a thoroughly respectful and dynamic cinematic reading of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Two Towers, it’s Gollum who has captured our imaginations. [More]

With tickets being on sale for little over a week, we have already sold through 600 out of a total 800 available!

There have been some questions raised in the past week, so hopefully I can address a few here:

– We are working with local hotel chains to get discount prices for out-of-towners attending the party. We hope to have details later this week

– Some of you may notice your credit card has not been processed yet. Do not be worried! We held off processing to account for any last minute mistakes or changes. Cards should be charged within 2 weeks of your date of purchase.

– Did you name your guest? If you purchased 2 or more tickets, you were required to provide names for the additional tickets. If you have not done so, please email chris@sideshowtoy.com immediately with your order number and the names to be associated with your order.

– We are sorry, but the 18 years and under rule is strictly enforced. We cannot allow anyone under the age of 18 into the party, even with parental guidance. If this affects your order, please email chris@sideshowtoy.com immediately with changes.

As always, if you have questions, please feel free to contact me at calisuri@theonering.net!

We travel back to the first few months in early February 2000, the action at Dry Creek Quary in Wellington is hot and heavy. Filming of the Helms Deep battle sequence is underway, and we had our spies right there to bring you all the action! Take a look at the Orcs making their way towards the first set of doors in a ‘turtle shell’ formation, and look who is scaling the wall! [More]
