They got one thing wrong though. They’re still insisting that Jay Laga’aia plays “Lurtz” as well as Ugluk. We’ve had two independent confirmations that “Lurtz” is played by Lawrence Makaore [More]

It wasn’t so long ago since we started our Fellowship of the Ring chats, and now we’ve arrived at the last chapter of Book One! This weekend men, women, children and hobbits are all invited to take part in our Hall of Fire discussions on a fantastic chapter.
Chapter XII: Flight to the Ford
With the Nazgúl on their heels and Frodo poisoned from a knife of evil, the Hobbits chances of arriving at Rivendell look bleaker and bleaker. However, with the aid of Glorfindel the group managed to arrive at the Bridge of Mitheithiel, only to walk into a trap laid by the Ringwraiths themselves.
We have also seen many images of this chapter over the past year, from Liv Tyler being chased by a group of Nazgúl on her white horse, to scenes from the second theatrical trailer of the Ringwraiths charging through water. And it was only revealed recently that some further footage is being shot at Niagra Falls for the flood!
A chapter that portrays the desperation of the group’s perdicament, with your enemy behind you and the unknown in front of you, we should have some great discussions! And for the convenienve of our guests we have three different sessions, catering for people all over the globe.

Here we are in sunny San Diego (ok we’re inside most of the time 🙂 )! The Comic-Con is under way in outrageous fashion, and Lord of the Rings is all over. There are at least five different exhibitors demonstrating or offering a look at games (Decipher, Games Workshop), action figures (Toy Biz), posters, collectible figures (Sideshow/Weta), trading cards (topps), and more. Tolkien fans will sure to be thrilled with the products on display this weekend… I know Quickbeam and I are impressed! And it was pretty darn cool to pick up a free movie theater poster if I do say so myself. : )
We hope to show you some of the amazing work done by these Middle-earth mavens. I’ll be sending in some fantastic pictures of a Lurtz bust, a bas-relief sculpture of the Nazgul sniffing out four naiive hobbits done by Alan Lee’s daughter, and yes, more. Sideshow/Weta has produced figures, busts, statues of armor, helmets, shields, a bow and arrow collection, characters, and and the list goes on. Most impressive to me are the recreated settings of Middle-earth, including the scene from The Two Towers of the Argonath, a cut away model of Moria at the Bridge of Khazad-dum, Bree, Weathertop, and more.
And more and more and more!
Quickbeam and I are about to head out to our presentation. If you’re here and looking for the show we’ll be in room 6A and we start at 6:00 p.m.
Stay tuned for further updates from Comic-Con!

Tonight, at 6pm PST at the San Diego Convention Center, at Comic-Con 2001, Ringer staff members Quickbeam and Tookish are going to announce the name of the actor playing the Dark Lord himself.
Sala Baker. Sala originally was a 2nd Unit worker in the production who landed this role after being spotted by the filmmakers. He has never been in a film before. And guess what? In a few hours..or I should say an hour and a half, there will be another special surprise at Comic-Con 2001. So if you aren’t already there, get there! [More]
