Party Faq
IS THIS AN ‘OFFICIAL’ OSCAR OR WARNER BROTHERS PARTY?
No. This is not an official Oscar or Warner Brothers party. “The One Expected Party” came about when a group of dedicated TheOneRing.net fans in Los Angeles decided to hold an event to celebrate three things: The amazing success of our three previous Oscar(R) parties (‘One Party to Rule Them All,’ ‘Two Towers: One Party,’ ‘The Return of the One Party’), the hopeful nominations for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and their favorite website TheOneRing.net. This event has been completely organized by the fans and truly lives up to TheOneRing.net’s motto “Forged by and For Fans of J.R.R. Tolkien.”
WHAT DOES THE COST OF THE PARTY INCLUDE?
Included in all party tickets: Free Parking with Shuttle; Full Party Access to Great Hall, The Green Dragon Pub, The Hall of Fire and more!; Complimentary Afternoon Tea Finger Food Buffet (3:30pm-5:30pm); Complimentary Hobbit Feast Dinner Buffet (8:30pm-10:30pm); Complimentary Full Bar; Party Activities and Live Entertainment featuring… Billy Boyd and Beecake; Charles Ross’s ‘One Man Lord of the Rings’; Emerald Rose; And More! Commemorative ‘The One Expected Party’ Goody Bag; 2 Free Raffle Tickets
All proceeds from ticket sales are going to directly pay for the cost of the party. Any extra proceeds from the auction and raffles, will donated to charity.
HOW DO I BUY TICKETS?
Tickets will be available via Eventbrite and require a Google Wallet account to purchase. Those of you who took the Oscar Party survey last year will be given an exclusive opportunity to purchase tickets before the general public. TheOneRing.net forum members, and members of ‘The Fellowship’ will also have an advance opportunity to purchase tickets.
WILL THE STARS BE THERE?
We must be perfectly clear and say that no celebrity, cast or crew member have guaranteed their presence at our party. However, we hear through the grapevine, that because our party is the only Hobbit celebration of the night, the possibility is high for some VIP appearances.
IF A CELEBRITY SHOWS UP, CAN WE ASK FOR AUTOGRAPHS?
The One Expected Party is meant to be just that, a party. Please do not ask any celebrities or VIPs for their autograph during the event. After all, if any celebrities do show up, they are there to relax and enjoy themselves, just like you and me. However, photography will be allowed, so feel free to bring your cameras to the event. Any attendee caught asking for autographs will be immediately removed from the party by security.
CAN I BRING A VIDEO CAMERA?
Yes, you can bring any type of recording device you prefer!
SO WHAT EXACTLY DOES “BLACK TIE AND POINTY EARS OPTIONAL” MEAN?
This is a Hollywood Oscar Party, and we would like for the fans attending to really get into the spirit by dressing up. Black Tie optional means that if you have a Tux, or an Evening Gown, wear it. We have arranged with Friar Tux Shop to save you $40 off a tux rental! (TheOneRing.net staff will be dressed to the max!) If you do not have that, go with the next best thing. This does not mean you should dress down at all. Security will not allow you into the party if you do not meet the dress code. You are also welcome to attend in costume, with limitations. Please review our strict costuming guidelines in our Costuming/Attire area. [Click Here]
I’M COMING IN FROM OUT OF TOWN. WHERE CAN I STAY?
This year’s venue is conveniently located adjacent to three major hotels. We have arranged discount rates at this hotels for fans who would like to be right next to the party. Please see our ‘Hotels and Lodging’ area for hotel details. Click Here
HOW BIG IS THE VENUE?
The American Legion, post 43 can hold 1200 people comfortably. Our expectation is to sell approximately 800 tickets to cover the cost of this party. If demand is higher, that number may increase slightly, but not much. There will be plenty of room to move around. And just for your information, The Legion is a famous concert hall with several dance halls, gaming rooms and places to roam.
WHERE DO WE PARK?
Parking will be available at the First Presbyterian Church Parking Lot, 1760 N Gower St, Hollywood CA 90028.
The entrance for parking is located at Carlos St off of Gower St.- Parking Lot B will be located on your right hand side.
Please show your party ticket for entrance into the parking lot. Attendants will be checking that all guests have a ticket for proof of parking. Please DO NOT leave your ticket with the attendant, as you will need it to get into the party itself.
Shuttle Service will be provided to all guests parking at the First Presbyterian Church. Shuttle service will begin at 2pm. Shuttle pick up will be on Carlos St upon exiting the parking lot (see map).
Shuttle Service will run all evening with the last shuttle leaving for Lot B around 2am. If you would like to leave at anytime during the event, please head back to the drop off point and the shuttle service can take you back to the parking lot.
Please keep in mind that shuttle service may take a bit longer at the end of the evening if large groups are heading back to the lot at the same time. There will be multiple shuttles running but unforeseen traffic to and from the lots may slow the frequency of pick up. Please plan accordingly.
LOT D where shuttles will be dropping off guests is NOT a public lot for this event. Please do not try and park in LOT D. It will be used for drop off and pick up only.
Please consider taking alternate routes and freeways vs service roads due to the number of street closures in effect for the Oscars. Again, please plan accordingly.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS
Please see the directions above to our parking lot for the event.
THIS PLACE IS BIG, IS THERE A SPECIAL ENTRANCE?
Yes, the private entrance to our party will be on Highland Ave, directly at the front gates of the American Legion. Look for ornate gates directly accessible from the sidewalk. There will also be a large One Expected Party sign marking the entrance.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Besides yourself, please bring at least one of the following types of photo ID: Valid Government ID, Driver’s License, Official State ID or Passport. These will be the ONLY forms of identification that will be accepted for admission into the party. If you do not bring one of these IDs to the party, you will not be allowed to enter.
WILL THERE BE A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER?
Yes! There will be a professional photograper set up for couples and friends to take photographs. Everyone will get one free photo and have the ability to purchase additional photos.
AGE REQUIREMENT?
Since we firmly believe that Tolkien fans span generations, and our fandom exemplifies a unique level of maturity, we have reduced the required age for this part to 14. Please note however, that all attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No exceptions. As alcohol will be served, wristbands will be given to guests 21 and older.
