9 Gloin

9) Gloin’s first look upon Erebor. During the boat ride to Lake-town, the dwarves are collecting coins to pay Bard, but Gloin is none too happy about it. Then, out of the mists the outline of the Lonely Mountain can be seen and Gloin is so taken by the sight that he just hands over his whole money pouch.

10 Tauriel involved

10) Tauriel’s no nonsense attitude. Echoing Merry in The Two Towers: “We are a part of this world”.

11 arkenstone

11) It’s all about the Arkenstone. This quest is ostensibly about reclaiming a homeland and a lost treasure, but deep down, its all about the Arkenstone. “A large, white gemstone. Very helpful.” Pretty sure Bilbo will know it when he sees it, but then again, there really is a vast amount of treasure to sift through first.

12 Balin and Bilbo

12) Balin echoes Gandalf. “Hobbits never cease to surprise me with their courage.”

13treasures of erebor

13) Gold. So much gold. Drifting mountains of loose gold, and large chunks of gemstones, a vast sea of treasure that expands beyond what can be seen.

Ed-Sheeran

14) “I See Fire”. And, because there are 13 Dwarves in the Company, and Bilbo was brought along to be the Lucky number, here is one of the bonus items from the Live Event on Monday, the “I See Fire” song from the End Credits of Desolation of Smaug available for purchase on iTunes.
