Insight into Richard Armitage’s Thorin; and fun with dwarves on set

October 30, 2012 at 12:13 pm by greendragon  -

A couple of interesting articles came to our attention today – so we’re sharing them with you!  Darkhorizons.com has this great interview with Richard Armitage; it contains minor spoilers about Thorin’s character in the Hobbit movies, so don’t read on if you want to stay spoiler-free!

Among the fascinating comments, Armitage reveals that Thorin’s beard is all his own; “Once we’d decided what the beard was going to be like, I realized I could probably grow it myself,” he states.  He also gives a hint that we will indeed see the backstory of the dwarf wars: “All of the fight skills have been really useful, but because I play the character younger as well … he fights in a completely different way to when he’s older. He’s much more crazy and berserk, and as he’s got older it becomes more efficient, so he doesn’t waste any energy.”  Other intriguing remarks include discussion of tension between Thorin and Gandalf, and Thorin’s attitude to the burglar they have to take along on their quest…

Read all that Armitage had to say here.  And if you’re hungry for more from the set of the Hobbit movies, check out comingsoon.net’s great article in two parts – part one and part two.
