howardshoreAin’t it Cool News posted a juicy tidbit this morning that Howard Shore has confirmed he is involved with The Hobbit and has been working on ideas for it since he scored The Two Towers. Not necessarily anything we didn’t already highly suspect, but definitely another step in the right direction. Read More

Characters of Middle-earth: Amdir Vanessa “Saffron” Price, Online Community Representative for Turbine, Inc. writes: Players who started their adventures in Archet will recognize the grim Ranger Amdir; his involvement in the struggle between Captain Brackenbrook and the Blackwold brigands would eventually lead him to a dark and sinister fate. TORN Cruise Garfeimao writes: Space will soon be disappearing from the Cruise to Middle-earth. This cruise has been on sale since August of last year, and Celebrity is very happy with how successful it has been. But the cruise line now needs some of the space back in order to follow through with some of their own promotions. This is a standard move in the cruise industry, and I am working with Celebrity Cruises to see how much space I can still hold, and for how long.

If you have been on the fence about whether or not you would like to go on the Cruise to Middle-earth in November of this year, your time is running out!. I’ve been able to set aside a few cabins in each category, but only a very few. So strike while the iron is hot, or while I still have cabins to sell to Ringers of intelligence to go on this journey, quest, thing.

From Variety.com: In her first creative hire since becoming head of MGM’s worldwide motion picture group, Mary Parent has brought in New Line Cinema executive Cale Boyter as exec veep of production.

“Boyter became available following last month’s decision by Time Warner chief Jeffrey Bewkes to remove New Line co-toppers Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne, and reform New Line as a downsized mini-major that will make six to eight films per year with budgets under $50 million, along with “The Hobbit” and proposed sequels to “Wedding Crashers” and “Austin Powers.” …Though New Line vet Toby Emmerich signed on to run the new division under Warner Bros. aegis, New Line is expected to lose the majority of its 600 staff positions, and numerous creative executives have been taking meetings. It would not be surprising if others land at MGM.”

Has the floodgate opened on the creative talent of New Line? If yes, how does it affect production of “The Hobbit?” Thanks to Board Member Compa Mighty for the link![Read More
