Site Claims Jackson to Helm ‘The Hobbit’ in 3D

Jackson Hobbit in 3dWhat?! Yea – that’s what we said. A website called MarketSaw is reporting that Peter Jackson is confirmed to be directing two films based on ‘The Hobbit’ and both will be presented in 3D format. Then, after The Hobbit films are released (2010,2011 respectively), the original trilogy will be converted to 3D after the release of the two Hobbit Films. Let’s not get too excited quite yet. If we judge this website based on the amount of junk advertising, we can pretty much write this off as an unconfirmed pipe-dream. But, ya never know! On a personal note, the PJ directing The Hobbit sounds great to me…the 3D, not so much. Check out the full story over at MarketSaw. [PJ Directing Hobbit Rumor]

Scottish Collector Wins Complete Raygun Set

Scottish Raygun fan Daniel Leyden literally danced with excitement when he received the email from Weta Customer Services telling him he had won Weta’s ‘Complete Your Raygun Set’ competition. “I was at work when I found out”, he says excitedly. “I just jumped up and down shouting ‘I’ve won! I’ve won!’”

Daniel is a games programmer for a mobile phone company, and it was here that he got his initial Raygun delivered, the F.M.O.M Industries Wave Disrupter Raygun, much to the fascination of his colleagues, who share his open planned office. “A few of my colleagues like, ‘you’re buying WHAT!@? They were certainly questioning why I was buying a Raygun! But for me, it was more of a ‘I just want this cool thing.” (more…)

No Regrets For McKellen In Turning Down Harry Potter

No Regrets For McKellen In Turning Down Harry Potter Soon after actor Richard Harris died, there was a lot of talk that Ian McKellen — another premier British actor — could take over the role of Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films. For McKellen, however, it was never an option. “People say to me, ‘Don’t you wish you’d played Dumbledore? I say, ‘No!’ I played Gandalf. The original.” McKellen shared those comments with Ireland Online about this character from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. But McKellen’s refusal to take on the role seemed to have more to do than simply what character from which franchise was superior. No Regrets For McKellen In Turning Down Harry Potter

Hollywood crew shoots movie scenes in Montgomery County

ROYERSFORD, Pa. (AP) – Shooting is under way in Montgomery County for a Hollywood movie. A stretch of Main Street in the tiny community of Royersford has been made over for “The Lovely Bones,” directed by Peter Jackson. Publicist Claire Raskind says the production needed a certain authenticity, and many of the buildings in Royersford still resemble those of the 1970s. The ones that don’t, Raskind says, have been painted so they do look like those of the era. Furniture store operator Roger Lebow says the movie crews have added a Chinese restaurant and have turned a former gas station into a bus depot. The movie has been in production in the Philadelphia suburbs for about a month, but shooting in Royersford began Wednesday. “The Lovely Bones” is due out in early 2009.

Sam Raimi Talks ‘The Hobbit’…Again

Sam Raimi Talks 'The Hobbit'...Again Gerry writes: As part of an interview with Comic Book Resources posted on November 27th, Sam talks about ‘The Hobbit again :

Sam: It’s not really my choice. The Hobbit has always been Peter Jackson’s picture, and I believe from what I’ve read that he is back in negotiations with New Line Cinema, and like all fans of his, I’m hoping that he’ll make it. So until I hear differently, I’m going to assume that’s what’s going to happen. Now, if he ever decides not to make it, I would love to be considered for it. Sam Raimi Talks ‘The Hobbit’…Again
