fc6084This week in the roll out we’ve seen of new collectibles tied to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug we get something that allows you to bring parts of the film home early. These collectibles brought to you from Film Cells Ltd. capture little pieces of film placed in some pretty cool looking frames and some even allow you to bring more than one shot home. As of now you have ten different selections for film, two with six book marks and 4 different film frames. The coolest option is the film frame with 10 different scenes from what appears to be the first trailer. This is the option I went with and I got some pretty cool scenes capturing Legolas, Thranduil, Balin, Thorin/Dwarves all covered in spiderweb, Mirkwood, Azog, and I even got one with Smaug in it. I also ordered a bookmark and got a cool shot of Thorin covered in Spiderweb. I also asked the folks if there were more options coming as we get closer to the film and we will be getting more options.

Lake-town Chase Lego box artwork Artwork for the Lego Lake-town chase set has been around for a while.

The set, which has just five mini-figs — Bard the Bowman, Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield, a Lake-town Guard and the Master of Lake-town — also features several Lake-town buildings, and a boat. I’d forgotten about it entirely until Ringer Sander recently reminded me of the existence of the Lake-town Chase set. Looking over the artwork again, I got thinking about the significance of that boat and exactly what this Lake-town chase might be, and its relation to what we saw in the trailer itself. So, from here on in, we’ll be talking about movie spoilers! Continue reading “Spoiler analysis: Lake-town Chase Lego set and the Hobbit trailer offer some story deviation clues”

Gandalf Thanks to our friends at Hobbitfilm.it, we have another seven new art images from The Desolation of Smaug.

Nothing dramatically revealing here, but we do like the moody shot of a swampy Mirkwood forest (is that the Company crossing a vast fallen tree?), and the RA army will undoubtedly appreciate what seems to be a new still of Thorin Oakenshield.
