According to Deadline.com, upcoming super-star Luke Evans (You know, Bard the Bowman in ‘The Hobbit’) has landed the lead role in the re-launch of ‘The Crow’ series.
The Crow will fly with Welsh actor Luke Evans playing the title role in the F. Javier Gutierrez-directed franchise reboot for Relativity Media. Evans was the original choice, but he has been incredibly busy. He was just cast as the lead in Dracula Year Zero, he is the villain in Fast & Furious 6 and is Bard the Bowman in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

WELSH movie hunk Luke Evans has landed the biggest role of his career after being cast in The Hobbit. It’s the first time the Aberbargoed actor, who starred as “top farmer totty” in Tamara Drewe, has appeared in a Peter Jackson franchise. He plays Bard the Grim, a skilled human archer, in the New Zealand-filmed blockbuster.
Luke, who has made a name for himself in “sword and sandals” films playing Zeus in Immortals and Apollo in Clash of the Titans, said he’s massively excited about the project, which has just started filming and will take a year to complete. “I’m just about to start a very, very big one – The Hobbit,” the 32-year-old said. Luke Evans has been cast in “The Hobbit” as Bard the Bowman, but don’t ask him anything about his experience working with director Peter Jackson — because, believe it or not, he has never actually met the man. In fact, he did his whole “Hobbit” audition online.
“I auditioned for it like a year ago. It’s amazing. Things happen like that sometimes on movies. Projects happen or they get stopped. As you know, ‘The Hobbit’s’ had a lot of hurdles to jump before it started production,” Evans explained. “So yeah, I auditioned for it a year ago and never heard a single thing back.” More..
