IMG_8805We’ve got another video review for you today, of the one environment I’ve been waiting to get my hands on since I saw The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in theaters. One of my favorite things about this particular environment was the front part of it that you could see standing outside the mountain, with that great Dwarven design, as well as those amazing Dwarven Guards. Finally, after a long wait we can now add at least this part of Erebor – with hopefully more to come, with something similar to the Moria Environment from The Lord of the Rings statue line. The Front Gate of Erebor comes in at $199 as well as being an open edition, so if you need to save a little you have some time. The size of this environment comes in at 10.6″ tall x 8.9″ wide x 5.7″ deep and weighs 6.9lbs.

Smaug detail FBOur friend, Artist Jerry Vanderstelt, has a brand new print ready for fans to add to their growing Middle-earth collections. If you’ve been wanting to own something Smaug specific, after seeing just how great he was in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, then today is your lucky day. You can now order an amazing print capturing Smaug the Terrible in this stunning portrait. This print gives incredible detail of the face of Smaug, with such great attention paid to the eyes, teeth, scales, fire, and even the gold being flung around by Smaug as he deals with Bilbo Baggins. As always Jerry offers this print in various sizes ranging from a 16×20 print for $35 to a Canvas Gallery Wrapped Giclee for $280. No matter which choice you go with you’ll be adding the best Smaug-centric piece on the market!

hobbitenvironmentereboralrg2The latest newsletter from our friends at Weta Workshop has been released, included in it is  their first environment piece from The Hobbit Trilogy. This amazing piece is one I have been looking forward to arriving, it captures the stunning detail of the Front Gate of Erebor. This fantastic piece has all the little details that we saw in the front gate with those two awesome Dwarven statues. You can pre-order this piece right now for a solid price of $199 with it arriving in your collection sometime between April and May.

Also in the latest newsletter is an item I believe Ringers who like to cosplay or fans of Legolas in general will love. You can add an exact replica of the vambrace that Legolas wears during The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Each vambrace is made of high quality leather and is ready to ship shortly after ordering. One vambrace comes with a price tag of $99 and will help you put a great finishing touch onto any Middle-earth themed costume.

hobbit-SmaugBookfrontcoverlrg2As we told you a while back, our friends from Weta Workshop have another amazing book detailing The Hobbit Trilogy up for pre-order. Now, we get to see what the cover of the book will look like, which is a great shot of Smaug and Bilbo having their conversation inside Erebor. This book will go behind the scenes to show us the work that went into briging to life the best dragon fans have ever seen on the big screen Smaug the Terrible. Smaug: Unleashing the Dragon is packed with exclusive images and amazing insights by the talented artists at Weta Digital. You can pre-order Smaug: Unleashing the Dragon right now from Weta’s website for $19.99 with it shipping in April of this year.

From December 13, fans with a 3D printer who use the Windows 8 Ads-inApps, or who have an XBox 360 will be able to download a blueprint of The Key To Erebor. And that means they’ll be able to print their own, at home.

Pretty neat.

According to Microsoft’s Owen Sageness, the company partnered with Warner Bros. to make the whole thing happen — and was also pivotal in developing some of the nifty “deep dive” functionality you’ve undoubtedly already seen on the official website for The Hobbit movies. If you haven’t, go check it out — it’s worth it just for the creepy first-person-perspective trip through Dol Guldur! Continue reading “3D print your own key to Erebor from December 13!”
