Peregrin T sends in the word that Mad Magazine has goofed on LOTR in their 2002 XL edition. [More]

From: Peregrin T

I just wanted to let you know that my daughter pulled out the Mad 2002 XL edition, and they have Oscar jokes featuring LOTR and others…the reference to Cleveland Browns fans as orcs was particularly funny…since I am a Steeler fan. I also wanted to let you know that I have an article on Tolkien and LOTR coming out on March 21 in Point of Light magazine.

IanRocks is the first Ringer back from a booksigning and discussion at Century City, Ca. Peter Jackson was there, as were Sean Astin, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. IR got the chance to hear our favourite rumours confirmed or denied – straight from the horse’s mouth! [More]

News from Erica: “I was just in hellomagazine.com and they reported that the BAFTA awards, for which Lord of the Rings is nominated for 12 awards, are going to be broadcast in the US for the first time on the E! channel. Yay! Some of the cast will probably be there, we can only hope!”

So, when’s the fabled new Two Towers trailer appearing? People in the cinema industry have told us of a new final reel (including the TTT footage?) for FOTR arriving ‘soon:’ Now we hear this from G Dengy: “A friend said yesterday that she had seen the TTT trailer running with (of all things) a budget showing of “Shallow Hal.” She said it seemed to be over three minutes.”

Tomas sent this in: “Five days ago, on February 15, LotR was finally shown in Poland. Many Polish spectators went a month ago to Czechoslovakia in order to watch this wonderful movie sooner. But [still] “The Lord of the Rings” had the best weekend opening in whole history of Polish cinema!!!

“Weekend box-office is exactly 518901 people in a country of about 37 million. It’s showing on 107 screens and most shows are full.”
