Pantaear writes from Tokyo: As was the case of TTT, three leading members of the LOTR Japanese subtitle reform activities were invited to a private preview of RotK with Japanese subtitle. They say that there were no terrible mistranslations such as in FotR, and much effort seemed to have been spent on the translation. They also discussed over some controversial subtitles and posed alternatives. They say that the people at the movie distributor, Nippon Herald, was very sincere and their opinions on translation will be considered over, as was the case of TTT.
For the past two years, one magazine in New Zealand has done an in-depth issue devoted to LOTR which is hard to match by any magazine anywhere. Some great exclusive photos and some of the best interviews I’ve seen anywhere came out of Pavement’s FOTR and TTT issues. Now they’re offering their ROTK issue to readers around the world. [More]
