Browsing through today’s (17JAN) Daily Telegraph in Sydney I spied an advertisement in the movie section of the paper. It is a quarter page ad for ‘Little Nicky’ and ‘Bring It On’, with the huge heading ‘The greatest event in movie history starts this week and lasts 1 minute 44 seconds’. Then a spiel about the LotR trailer commencing tomorrow with those movies.

Hobbit fans hurried over the weekend to New Line Cinema’s spruced-up “The Lord of the Rings” Web site featuring behind-the-scene snippets of the trilogy due to hit theaters by year-end. [More]

To get Rings fans psyched about the movie, and the film’s hot new web site, New Line Cinema and Digital City are teaming up to offer moviegoers some exclusive LOTR gifts — promotional T-shirts and a chance to win the grand prize of a Lord of the Rings 2001 wall calendar (valued at $300). [More]

Thanks to the lovely Wendy for the tip!

TORN Staffer Natalya from our Russian language version of TheOneRing.net, henneth-annun sends in the following:

The distributor for New Line Cinema in Russia is “Gemini-Kinomir”, the partner of the German movie company “Kinowelt”. “Gemini-Kinomir” is planning to release FotR in Russia on December 21st, 2001. They plan to show the new trailer in Russia in the end of January – they will soon inform us of the exact dates, theaters and movies it will be attached to.

Money, money, money. Films drink it up like a sponge. So how will the LOTR films do? Earendel sent in this news:

“Do you guys know about the Hollywood Stock Exchange? (www.hsx.com)? The reaction of the traders there (I’m not one) to the teaser seems to be positive. FoTR has hit an all time high of 127.34. Which, if you are unfamiliar with the way HSX works, means that the “market” is betting the movie will gross $US127.34 million in its first four weeks.”

This is the last update of where ‘The Fellowship of the Rings’ theater teaser is playing in the United States, and where it is not. Thanks for all of your email… I’m officially throwing in the towel on this one! For a definitive answer, call your theater first! more
