From highdefdigest.com: New Line/Warner has delayed ‘The Lord of the Rings Trilogy’ originally slated to hit Blu-ray this November. The 7-disc set scheduled for November 3 has been removed from the slate and will now be released sometime in 2010 (likely in the Spring). Warner has not provided any reasons for the delay, however there is some speculation that the studio doesn’t want the title to “get lost in the crowd” from their other high profile releases according to reports from The Digital Bits. LOTR artist Alan Lee will be appearing at the Weta Cave in Wellington to sign advance copies of his new book, a re-telling of tales from Ovid’s Metamorphoses by brilliant British poet Adrian Mitchell. Read More. His appearance on Sat October 3, like John Howe’s recent booksigning there, is reassuring in terms of Hobbit news as it confirms that both LOTR film artists are spending time in Wellington as production ramps up for the films.
ATLANTA – Enthusiasm is building for the two-movie adaptation of “The Hobbit” and if you don’t mind me saying, it can be felt in the air and smelt in the water. One of the first attractions of the day (after Spock and Kirk of course) was TORn’s own trio of staffers Deej, Greendragon ad MrCere, dishing about all the recent developments on “The Hobbit.”
Using quotes from TORn’s own interviews, TORn’s message boards (Guillermo del Toro) and national media, the trio tried to get everybody up to date on the soon-to-be greenlit (we hope/think) film. Friday is the official kick-off to the annual sci-fi and fantasy fest known as DragonCon in Atlanta and as it has for the last decade, TheOneRing.net will be there to celebrate everything Tolkien and bring you the goings-on to the best of our ability. We will have new Lake Town Archery Club shirts as well as the continuation of the themed shirts introduced at Comic-Con this year. TORn also has a panel about the very latest news on “The Hobbit,” on Friday morning and Sunday. As fast as news is changing, they may even be completely different.
The latest DCon news is Brad Dourif(television and film legend and of course Grima Wormtongue) has just been announced as a late addition-guest to the four-day convention. We have been sitting on some spectacular news that we can finally share with the world! The Literary manuscripts from Marquette University’s renowned J.R.R. Tolkien Collection, the Holy Grail of Tolkien artifacts, will be on display in New York City to coincide exactly with the “Fellowship of the Ring,” screening and concert at Radio City Music Hall on October 9 and 10. There are other Middle-earth themed programming events planned in Midtown with more details to come.
The exhibit, “The Beginnings of a Masterpiece: Original Manuscripts from The Fellowship of the Ring,” will be held at Fordham’s Gerald M. Quinn Library at Lincoln Center, located conveniently close to the history Radio City location, October 5 through November 19.
