London, July 9 : ‘Lord Of The Rings’ wizard Gandalf, played by Sir Ian McKellen has topped a poll of world’s favourite wizard, beating Harry Potter, in a survey conducted by cinema advertising firm Pearl & Dean. Gandalf, who got 44 percent of the votes, was followed by Professor Albus Dumbledore, brought to life by Sir Michael Gambon in Harry Potter came second with 17 percent of the votes. Author J.K. Rumors about a movie following the life and times of the Stooges icon have been rife for some months, with the Lord Of The Rings star tipped to play the lead role. Andrew writes: Please let the readers of TORN know that PBS is currently running a great documentary on the life of Vincent Van Gogh with Andy Serkis in the staring role. Please check the listings for your local PBS stations and do try to see this show. Serkis makes Van Gogh come back to life with equal measures of genius and sensitivity and deals with the artist’s illness that is real and sympathetic. It is the quality of performance that you rarely see these days in such pieces.
