It must, therefore, be his genuine love of their resolutely uncommercial psych-pop music that prompted Wood to make his debut as a label boss this summer by releasing, to a largely indifferent world, New Magnetic Wonder, the sixth studio album by the Apples in Stereo. Xoanon here, I am not sure what the details are yet, but an eagle-eyed fan pointed out to me that the official site for DAY ZERO (dayzerothemovie.com) has recently been updated to tease a theatrical release. The film, which follows Elijah Wood, Chris Klein, and Jon Bernthal for a 30 day countdown after they receive their draft notices, recently had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC. Poking around the site I found some great reviews here and here, including one which calls it Elijah’s best performance yet. We’ll have to wait and see I guess. Did anyone catch the premiere at Tribeca? What did you think?
Iggy Pop has backed Elijah Wood’s credentials to play him in an upcoming biopic on the rock legend. Rumors about a movie following the life and times of the Stooges icon have been rife for some months, with the Lord Of The Rings star tipped to play the lead role. However, Iggy has revealed there are no concrete plans for the film, days after the Stooges played an acclaimed Saturday evening slot at Britain’s Glastonbury Festival. [More]

The new book by Tao Lin, Eeeee Eee Eeee, features a group of dolphins who are plotting to assassinate Elijah Wood & other celebrites. How was Elijah chosen for this plot? Rest easy, the author doesn’t hate Elijah, in fact, “I like Elijah Wood. I don’t want to kill him,” he says. “The dolphins probably wanted to murder him because he’s small and easy to kill.
