According to Dre Rivas of Film.com, we seem to have lost our passion after the Oscars were handed out for ROTK…
An Apology: The Ringers Fans of Tolkien and Jackson, you will notice LOTR is fairly low on this list. In fact, here you are, into my bear trap and at the bottom…You’re not far from my thoughts. I understand the LOTR fanbase is large and mighty. But where’s the passion people? This list is about what you have done for me lately. And you cats went into hiding after Return of the King took home its eight billion Oscars. Now it’s like you don’t even know me. Hell, even the Trekkies smoked you on this list. You sold out your soul for a gold stiff? No, no, this can’t be.
Well, we may be at the bottom of that list, but did you notice that, in the poll on left-hand side of the page, we’re in the majority? [Read Full Story]

Forum member Finduilas101 just posted a link to some great LOTR themed music videos from TheAragonath.cc. I’m not 100% sure if TORn has reported on these videos in the past, but they are unique and entertaining enough to have a second mention. If you have some time today (in between the Olympics) check out the 30+ videos of LOTR film scenes set to popular music. Gotta say, my personal favorite is the Sauron composition to Black Sabbath’s ‘Iron Man,’ though the Eomer mix to ‘Seven Nation Army’ is pretty solid too. Then again, there is the Modest Mouse ‘Float On’ mix to Merry and Pippin…and then…oh you’ll see… there are a lot of good ones. Going through them all might take a little bit of time, but hey, what else were you going to do today? π [LOTR Music Videos]

The very talented Hai writes: First off, I’d like to tell you guys how much I appreciate your work on
TheOneRing.net. I’m a long time fan of LOTR and I must say your site has been an invaluable resource for all Tolkien stuff. I hope you guys keep up the great work for many many centuries!
For the longest time ever after I’ve read the book The Hobbit, I’ve wanted always to turn it into a webcomic. But seeing as it’s owned by the Tolkien estate and I’d rather not get into trouble with it, I’ve decided to just come up with my own fantasy story instead. And six months later, my fantasy webcomic By Moon Alone is finally up and running. So I’d like to invite you guys to have a look at it. There’s only 40 pages so far but I hope the quality will speak for itself. www.bymoonalone.com

It looks like a lot of Ringers have been recruited into the ‘Lake Town Fire Department!’ Our first batch of LTFD was a success, but we still have approximately 25 XL and 2 Medium shirts available in stock. Once we’ve made a dent in the remaining inventory, we can go ahead and reprint this shirt in various styles, including the often requested female styles. And of course, we will be premiering a brand new shirt in the coming weeks, so stay tuned! If you enjoy visiting TORn, please help support the site with your t-shirt purchase. Thanks in advance! If you haven’t heard of it yet, you will want to check out the non-profit collaborative short film being produced by writer/director Chris Bouchard – The Hunt for Gollum. Like the name suggests, this short film is a prequel to The Lord Of The Rings, set in Middle Earth and depicts events leading up to the Fellowship of the Ring. The story follows the Heir of Isildur as he sets out to find the creature Gollum. Mr. Bouchard has just released the second trailer for the film which you can checkout at their official website or at YouTube. The film will be released as a FREE download in December 2008.
